    Memorial Day Cocktails

Let us raise a glass as we honor those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

I'll have to use the mezcal I have on hand which is Wahaka.

    Tia Mia
    • 1 oz mezcal espadín
    • 1 oz Jamaican rum
    • 1/2 oz orange curaçao
    • ½ oz orgeat
    • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
    Garnish: mint sprig
    Garnish: lime wheel
    Garnish: edible orchid (optional)

A little heat and a little sweet.

    Tequila Mockingbird
    • 1 slice jalapeño
    • 3 watermelon cubes (each about 1 inch cubed)
    • 2 ounces blanco tequila
    • 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
    • 3/4 ounce agave syrup

I made this last weekend and I think this would be well received by most on any sunny day.

    Watermelon Slushie
    • 1 bottle rose
    • 4 cups frozen watermellon

    What will you be drinking?

    #2
We have two nice Rosé's, Lagavulin Distiller's edition, and vodka for bloody marys .... I'll be toasting my missing comrades with the Lagavulin.

I'm in a cocktail contest at my next BBQ event. Can't find sugar cubes anywhere. I think I will sweeten this up with some simple syrup and do round ice cubes with a strawberry in the center. I've made enough pink vodka to do the contest AND hurt myself!

      Pink Torpedo

      • 5minPrep Time
      • 6Servings

      Ingredients
      • 2 cups vodka, chilled
      • 1 1/2 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced
      • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
      • Limoncello
      • 1 750 milliliter bottle sparkling wine, chilled (I used Topo Chico sparkling water)
      • 6 sugar cubes

      Preparation
In a large bowl, stir together the vodka, two-thirds of the sliced strawberries and the granulated sugar. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature until the vodka turns pink, about 6 hours. Refrigerate overnight or up to 3 days.

Strain the vodka and divide among 6 tall glasses. Add a splash of limoncello to each glass and top off with the sparkling wine. Drop a sugar cube in each glass and garnish with remaining strawberry slices.

Attjack Didn't cook much this weekend. Practiced cooked a pork butt to test flavor on a new preinjected brand. Gave it away after I tasted it (too peppery).

Wow that looks delicious. I might have to make that and sip on it while laying
out in the sun (in my undies) listening to the oldies. Oh yeah and also puffin on a left handed cigarette.

Bloody Bud n a shot of Blanton's neat. Whilst I nibble on briskie. God Bless my Brothers n Sisters that wrote the ultimate check.
Triple "B". I did not have a chance to serve. I am afraid if I did my patience would not be long for the shenanigans being displayed these days.

Attjack I'm guessing that's 4 cups of already-slushed frozen watermelon to one 750ml bottle (3.2 cups) of Rosé wine? I've got a bottle of Rosé that I'm not loving. I think I'll use that and cut the volume down for one glass to give it a try. Immersion blender is at the ready.

I'm pretty hooked on that Timberpoint cocktail, though. It's going to make an appearance this weekend too, if the sun ever comes out.

I made another batch yesterday. What I do is cube the watermelon, put it in a bowl, and put that into the freezer. I ended up with more watermelon this time. I just fill my Vitamix about to the top with the frozen cubes and then add the rose. This time because the watermelon was a little less sweet I added a little simple syrup and a few glugs of tequila for extra flavor. I think even if the ratios are not exact you're going to like the results and you can make adjustments as necessary.

I still have some leftover watermelon cubes left in the freezer which I plan to use for the Tequila Mockingbird.

I'm glad you're enjoying the Timberline!

I tried to edit my comment to confirm, yes 750 ml of wine, but the edit box is too small and I can't scroll to the middle of my text to add that. Very frustrating.

Spaghetti Western here. 4oz rye bourbon, 1.5oz Solerno orange, 1oz vermouth, 4 shakes Angostura bitters. Pour over a shaker full of ice. Stir, DON'T SHAKE! for 20 seconds, pour.

Been drinking these for years, especially in the summertime. I forget where I got this idea, it isn’t original, but Ranch Water is what I’ve always called it.

              - Topo Chico Mineral Water (can use lime infused)
              - 2 lime wedges
              - drink the neck out of it, then belch (it’s bubbly)
              - 2-4 oz of your favorite blanco Tequila.

              * Sometimes I use gin and lemon or whatever is your preference.

Last night I opened up a new to me bottle of rum, it’s ok, it may make a better mixer than a sipper.

This morning I am enjoying a Bloody Mary.

My thoughts from my first pour, they went to heavy in adding spices, and then losing the rum.

I am not big on spiced rum. Maybe there's good spiced rum but I haven't had it yet.

I’m not a big fan of spiced rums, and this one is over spiced. I should have read up on it, but … I will find a way to pair it with something in a mix.
