    Cocktails for this week.

    Happy Friday!

    Old Timber

My wife found this cocktail for us to make while watching out local soccer team the Portland Timbers. We both liked it, lots of flavor. She used Wild Turkey Rye, Cointreau, and Fernet Branca.

    1 1/2 oz rye whiskey
    1/4 oz triple sec
    1/4 oz Fernet
Garnish: Cinnamon stick and orange twist.

    Brooklyn Cocktail

Because I like Maraschino liqueur and amaro I want to try this. I'm not yet sure which amaro I'll use.

    2 oz rye whiskey
    1 oz dry vermouth
    1/4 oz maraschino liqueur
    1/4 oz amaro
Garnish: A maraschino cherry or two.

    Timberpoint Cooler

Here's the other "Timbers" cocktail she found that we did not try the other day. It has finally warmed up around here and this sounds nice and refreshing.

    2 oz gin
    1 oz Aperol
3/4 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
    1/2 oz simple syrup
    Club soda, to top
    Garnish: cucumber slice

    What will you be drinking?

Now that the sun has returned around these parts (for now) I need to get equipped to make your tropical cocktails. In this case, I do not have any passion fruit syrup and would need to make some honey syrup. I should get on that.

I just noticed how green your lawn was. We don't even have leaves yet on the trees. Copper Mountain ski area just closed last Sunday. They have enough snow to carry on but Forest Service shuts them down for migrating animals.

I'm outclassed ! Believe it or not just a glass of water. Been working, fighting, the greenhouse irrigation system today. Many trips to hardware store, one of those days.

We had .50 inches of moisture. The snow melted upon hitting the ground.

Not here. This is another year with no Spring, we will go directly to Summer, someday.

Welp....some Vodka called Pink Whitney by a local distillery called New Amsterdam Distilling mixed with Sprite and lemon slices with tons of ice after cutting the lawn.
I was hot and didn't feel like thinking....again....seems to be a reoccurring theme around here.....

My girlfriend’s son has a dog named Whitney…
Yep…named after Pink Whitney. That stuff flows like water around here most weekends.

captainlee My lawn is looking decent at this point. That's what non-stop rain gets us around here. But by summer it'll be beat down and brown.

All of these sound delicious, especially the Timberpoint Cooler mostly because I actually have all the ingredients.

Mixed up the Timberpoint Cocktail. Excellent. I researched this drink a bit and was surprised to find it was created at one of my favorite places The Tides in Kennebunkport Maine. Thanks Attjack

"Ben Lohnes, the bar manager atThe Tides Beach Clubin Kennebunkport, Maine, claims Aperol as his favorite liqueur to play with, and he finds it pairs especially well with drier less-botanical gins, such as Maine’s Batson River gin. “Aperol is not overly sweet and herbaceous and has a unique flavor profile overall,” he says. This quaffer has been on the menu at The Tides for several years and makes for a great thirst-quencher after a day on the beach."

      My Humble attempt

smokin fool good call. No fresh lime then it's not happening.

Interesting insight, Old Glory and I like that you even made the proper garnish.

Made up a Brooklyn Cocktail to try - I was going to have a Manhattan, but saw this so thought I’d give it a try. It’s good, like the rye to go with a dash of the maraschino. Even better sitting on the patio!

Ignore the home brew, as it was not good, but first couple enjoyments of a new to me rum offering from Plantation. The Plantation original dark double aged.

I like the heavier notes this carried, their website suggests plums, banana, and vanilla. Plantation calls it a great rum for cocktails, I can say it would be a fantastic mixing rum, as it was enjoyable neat.

I bought the Missus a new glass, and we have to use up some lemons, so I broke it in with a classic. Whiskey Sour.

Attjack regrettably the rep wasn’t sampling it. But I did do a deep dive into their website (I make all the tasting notes) and they are super creative. But not so out there, that it’s just stupid. We may plan a field trip as a team!

It was a nearly perfect Mother's Day, Old Glory , thanks for the good wishes. To be around to celebrate it at all made it a real keeper of a day for sure! The only thing that would have made it better would have been to see the kids in person. That will be on the list for next year's Mother's Day.
