    Knife Sharpener Recommendations?

Hey everyone. I’ve got a decent set of J. A. Henckels knives and they need a good sharpening. My current one ain’t cutting it anymore. Pictured on my counter are the ones I use most. I’d like to just order something decent from Amazon in the $50. to $75. range. I don’t wanna use a whetstone or anything like that. Just something easy and quick to pull through. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, how do I know if these are Asian cut or standard knives I have? I’m not familiar with that. Thanks

We just bought the Spyderco Sharpmaker. It does an excellent job. https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=77

Take a look at https://www.worksharptools.com/home/culinary/ If it still works the code Meathead30 will get you 30% off. Also, look,at the Chef’s Choice sharpeners on Amazon. Out of your price range, but a good sharpener, is https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I third Worksharp. I’ve sharpened everything from fillet knives to lawnmower blades with my Ken Onion edition.

I took advantage of the WorkSharp discount code when it was first posted here.

Just got the E5 and it’s great. I was looking for something user friendly as I know nothing about sharpening knives and this is idiot proof which I’m all about lol

I have the E2 and I LOVE it. I had a ChefsChoice that did ok. I purchase the E2 and it took my knife back to factory sharpness. I bought direct using the discount they offer members

I have the same knife set. Get the Worksharp E5. My knives are sharp as all get out. I keep it plugged in right next to the knife block so I think to sharpen them often. The 30%discount offered to AR members is pretty nice too 👍

Thanks. I just added the E-5 photo. With 30% off makes it a good deal. EDIT here. It’s out of stock. The E-5.

I use the EdgePro Apex system. https://www.edgeproinc.com/Apex-Mode...Pro-System-c3/ It's a good deal higher than your budget, but worth it IMHO. Very easy to use and won't take much metal off your knives. You are in complete control of the angles.

Alas, there are now lots of much cheaper copies out there. I believe in supporting the originator, but if money is an issue...

The Ken Onion from Worksharp is also a name-your-angle sharpener. I have one in my closet but sadly haven't found (made?) the time to use it yet.

Ha! That’s why I keep my E5 right next to the knife block. Otherwise the thing would sit in a cabinet unused.

DONE! Thanks guys! And thanks glitchy for telling me the one with the rod was available. Didn’t even check out that option. And I got the 30% meathead 30 discount! Plus a free storage bag! Woohoo! 😂
Big selling point to me was Jfrosty27 telling me he had the same knife set and how well it works with his. And the other’s praise for it as well. Thanks again.

Now we need a contest between Panhead John, Huskee, and glitchy to see who’s stays in the box the longest.

I matched my cheap stamped knives with this cheap sharpener. It works great and my knives are razor sharp.

I have the Chef's Choice Edgeselect 120 and it's adequate. I try to have my knives professionally sharpened every year and that helps a lot. A guy I used to work with did sharpening as a side hustle and he'd do all my blades for a bottle of wine. I'd pay him to do my saw blades and router bits and such and they were sharper than from the factory! We have since moved, but I was sure spoiled then. Check around with a local saw shop, often they can and will sharpen anything.

I’ve got a Wusthof sharpener that I use for my ... imagine that ..... Wusthof knives :-)

and, funny, the knives I pull out most often are the 8” Chef, the 7” Santoku and the paring knife.

+1 for the Worksharp Ken Onion. I use ours regularly for kitchen knives, EDC knives, and even garden tools and have been very satisfied.

You will be happy with the E5 sharpener. Nice and easy to use, and has multiple angles.

I have the Ken Onion Angle-Set sharpener (manual), and just 10 swipes on each side, at 3 abrasive levels, and it has done great sharpening some of my knives. I've even restored one of my wife's favorite serrated kitchen knives with it, and it keeps a razor edge on my Kershaw Leek, which I use for random stuff throughout the day, every day. Heck - I even carved my jack-o-lantern this year with the Kershaw, rather than the steak knives everyone else was using...

One of these days I want one of the powered sharpeners, but the one I got is nice and compact, and does the trick for now.
