I just got a Weber Spirit II E-310 and was going to get the Igrill 3. Now I see this and think I will be much happier with this! I went to order this from Maverick and they are out of stock. I put myself on their waiting list. Is it possible to pre-pay for one?

Battery update. Went 5 full days non-stop before starting to dim on fancy pricey alkalines. No backlight, no alarms beeping, just running quietly using the least battery possible. That was yesterday. Today (day 6) it's dimmer than Larry, Darrell & Darrell. can't hardly see it unless you tip it and look at a sharp downward angle at it. I've heard on good authority some units may have this issue, it's rare, but it's being investigated and will be made right by Maverick. Also heard on good authority it should go a solid month nonstop on one set of batteries. Which translates to LOTS of cooks when you shut it off in between.

Purchased mine and used it last weekend just for some reverse seared ribeyes, so I planned to run with two internal probes and one for the cooker. When I took it out of the box the day before everything worked fine and I tested all of the probes, transmitter and receiver with boiling water. Everything worked fine and the probes were within .5* difference. The next day I turned on the transmitter and it would not work. I took the standard batteries it came with out and popped them back in - immediately the unit started beeping and flashing, making it unresponsive to any of the buttons on the controller. I pulled those batteries and switched in those from the receiver, which worked. I placed the funky batteries in the receiver and the same issue of beeping/flashing occurred, so I ditched those batteries fast. After I found some other batteries around the house everything worked well.
I'll give those fancy lithium batteries a try, as previously suggested and tested by Huskee.

Your XR-50 will likely work just fine if you put batteries in before your cook, but they're going to drain slowly when you power down the unit. That's why we call it the battery drain bug.
For anyone else interested in the XR-50 we have a new shipment coming in, but it could be 3 to 4 weeks. We recommend you sign up on our website for notification. https://abcbarbecue.com/?afmc=amazingribsLast edited by David Parrish; June 21, 2018, 09:04 AM.

Well, fixing the batt issue is good news. Anxious to see how it works out, although I don't know that there's a reason to replace my Fireboard...

Well, having had my Smoke crap out and stop "liking" probes that work just fine with my Dot (and don't even get me started on how flakey my Smoke Wifi Gateway is), twice in two cooks, I'm going to be listening to hear how these units work once the battery fix is in place. I don't have the budget to get the Fireboard right now, and if I am not going to have an app enabled one that actually works, might as well be this one.

I love having 4 waterproof probes and I haven't measured the distance, but I get a signal anywhere on my property or in my house - that is awesome! The only thing I am not thrilled about is how weak the receiver magnets are. Not a show stopper, but it would be good if they fixed that on a future design revision.
