    New Kamado E6 Charcoal.........

On Craigslist for $895, New. Was looking for just a charcoal grill for high heat applications, steak, etc. I do not know much about these. How far is the charcoal shelf from the cooking grate? Is it to low to use this for searing? New from the store are around $1400. Is this one of those "Pull the Trigger" moments?

+2, I have the original Summit and it's my most versatile cooker.

I’d buy it if it was around here.

Thanks for the comments. Apologize for not during the research prior to posting earlier. I was in my office, staff coming in and out with questions, etc. A bit of a hectic day. Once it calmed down gave me a bit of time to do some research. Answered a couple of my own questions. Was in a hurry and did not want to miss the opportunity to pick this up.

Thats a great price for a E6 kamado, hopefully you pulled the trigger.

There are two positions for the charcoal grate, a lower position for use as a kamado and an upper position for use as a standard Weber type grill, for searing and a great deal more. Have you bought it, and if not do you have any additional questions that might help you reach a decision?

Andrrr I let him know I cannot get there until Saturday work, etc. He was ok with that. He had just got done putting it together. Oddly, this guy has several of them, it appears. Multiple ads on Craigslist at different prices. Could be one of those "Mob" deals, where if asked, his reply would be "I don't know, just fell off the back of a truck!" Hey, if it doesn't work out, it would be well worth the effort.

Don't want to be a wet blanket but I see a couple red flags here. First is having a "new" unit at a steep discount, and then also having more than one of them, especially at different prices...
If I'm in your shoes, meet in a safe public place and look over the goods before you hand over any cash. Absolutely, under no circumstances whatsoever, DO NOT PAY AHEAD or give this person anything prior to seeing the unit in person.
All that said, I really hope you get a great deal on a great cooker!

jtw No cash changing hands until the goods are inspected. And he didn't ask for anything up front.

The deal is to be done Saturday morning. Fingers crossed.

barelfly Not sure what the first cook will be. Last weekend was an 18lb brisket from Meat N' Bone, two racks of pork ribs and some sausage done on the LSG stick burner. There is just the two of us and still trying to finish up what was cooked. Most of the brisket was cut into six equal size chunks and vacuum packed.

The Summit Kamado has landed!!! jtw So the story on this seller he is a retired City of Portland employee with a passion for smoking and grilling. It is just he and his wife. He is a member or peruses Amazingribs.con often as he was very familiar with it as we discussed quite a bit of the website. After retiring he was stuck with wanting something to do. His love of cooking brought him to buying/fixing/selling smokers/grills, etc. turning into something to go along with what he likes. There is local hardware store chain in the Portland/Vancouver area, Parkrose Hardware, who last fall was closing out/discontinuing their Summit Kamados. He bought a few. Wife is on him to get rid of quite a bit of his "hobby", taking up too much room. As it stands now, he has approximately, eight Big Green Eggs along with some others. I will add, my DW didn't verbally appose this purchase, but did not promote it either. I believe she is thinking "Why do you need another?" When it was brought home this morning, she said "It is smaller Than I thought it would be."

I tried to download the manual, but it is not working for me. Only provides the first page. If someone is able to, please send it to me. https://www.weber.com/US/en/help/manuals/. Serial number is OS 0150739, if needed. Thank you.

From this link I put in your serial number and it gave me a list of manuals.
Not letting me copy the pdf link. Sorry, it's not working very well...

I just put kamado in the model search and pulled up several pages of kamado docs.

            #12
Ok, there is something broken on the site. When I put the serial number, I only get the first page of the manual.
If I put kamado in the model search, I get the full manual. Page 4 has the 2020 model.
            Give it a shot.

If you can't open it, I can send it to you since I already downloaded it.

Try searching with the model info: " Kamado E6 Charcoal"
Then the 52 page pdf downloaded. Then open the download file instead of the pdf file that is on that page. That worked for me...

I'm out. Sounds like it has been sorted.

Sid P Carolyn Ace Thank you all for your help!!! I now have ground work where to start. Definitely different than our LSG 42 stick burner.

I think you got a good deal and I think the seller is staying busy in retirement buying and selling cookers. Whenever you are buying a new or used Kamado a deep discount is appropriate because the one thing you would get when buying new is a valuable warranty. As a Big Green Egg owner for 16 years my warranty has replaced two major parts that together come close to the original price. Have fun.
