Fan Port Plug Part Number 65887(?)

So I was cleaning out the bowl today with my plastic scraper and forgot to remove the fan port plug. I heard a “ping-a-tink-a-tink” as I knocked it loose and it went flying off of my deck, and in to the woods below. At least I think that is where it’s at.

I can’t find a part number anywhere, and it doesn’t show up on any drawings in the owners manual. After a 40 minute call to Weber, I think we tracked the part number down to 65887. Unfortunately the gentleman that helped me couldn’t find an image anywhere. This was WAY harder than it needed to be.

The kit is labeled Weber Hardware (plug, wingnut, magnet) Summit (65887). I’m hoping this is the plug I need. Can anyone confirm?

Bonus question, what the heck are the wingnut and magnet are for? I have the newest Kamado E6. I’m guessing those are for one of the older models, or the upgraded version with the table? Thanks!

I was looking through an old virtual manual I had and I think the PN you state has to be the right one, I just don’t see where else it would be, but the parts it’s packaged with don’t seem to make sense. Wish I could help more.
I don’t remember what that cap is made of but you could try using a magnet to find it. Or if you think you’ll venture down the fan route someday you could get the pit viper attachment.

Maybe that’s what the magnet is for in the package. 😆

It’s a stainless plug though. Not sure a magnet will pick it up. Will test when I get the replacement. Thinking about getting a high-temp silicon plug next time.

I just checked and you’re right, it’s not magnetic. Razor

Have you looked for a youtube video on replacing that part? You might get lucky and get the part # that way.

How about something like this? Just need to verify it's a 7/8" hole.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! Thank you! I could have bought -10 of these for what I paid Weber. But then I wouldn’t have also gotten a cool magnet and wing nut. 😉

I’ve been thinking about this today and have to ask, how did you know what it was and where to get it?

I knew what it was because I have mine sitting in a bin, it’s been there since I bought and installled the Pit Viper adapter. I wasn’t about to take the adapter off to measure the hole so I measured the narrowest part of the plug at 7/8”. Plug that info and a few pics of it into ChatGPT and I let it do the searching for me 👍🏻
