    Replacement diffuser plate?

Hi. I recently moved across country (Philly area -> Southern California) and it seems I misplaced the diffuser plate for my summit charcoal while I was cleaning it out for the move. Weber is out of stock, and 3rd party vendors are asking nearly 200 dollars for a non-hinged replacement (it seems quite steep for a simple part!), and I still have to wait a few weeks. Does anyone have a spare they'd be willing to sell (perhaps someone upgraded to the hinged version)? Alternatively, can someone give me the diameter of the plate so that I might source a decent alternative or recommend a good off the shelf alternative? Thanks!

Outer dimensions are 18 -1/4" for the diffuser plate on my S6. Possibly you could temporarily use a 15" Lodge cast iron pizza pan as a diffuser plate until you find or order your replacement hinged or non hinged diffuser. The outer dimension of the 15" Lodge cast Iron pizza pan is 19 1/4" to reach across the middle grate diffuser support ring.

You have one excellent suggestion from Smoked Transistors to use the 15" Lodge Pizza pan.

Perhaps you could take that idea one step further:
You may be able to combine the 15" Lodge pizza pan placed on the diffuser support ring first with the 55 gallon Gateway Drum Smoker (21.5" diameter) heat diffuser on top of it. That might get you closer to the Weber diffuser design with a solid center and holes around the edges. Setting it on top of the Lodge pizza pan gives you a larger available circumference on the WSCG bowl to work with. You'd have to do the measurements to see if it would work.

So again, the stacking order would be, going from the bottom of the WSCG kamado up:
the diffuser support ring+Lodge 15" pizza pan+21.5"diameter Gateway Drum Smoker diffuser.

If the fit of that diffuser plate is too tight with that setup, you might think about using ceramic spacers to lift it a bit higher off the Lodge pizza pan to buy you a bit more diameter clearance.

Or you could have the outside edge of that Gateway diffuser plate trimmed down.

        Just a thought.

P.S. Akorn has a 17.5" stone that may work too.

I'm not sure it would get you anything more than the Lodge Pizza pan would, though, as the diameter of the solid area looks to be much smaller than the pizza pan.
