Wonderful interview! I really enjoyed getting to know you adamjs83. Let's just say that after doing a few Congressional workshops in Washington, DC, I agree with you both!

I took my daughter to visit friends in Skokie over New Years/Hannukah one year. I was stopped at 1A< for Driving while Gentile and I screwed up and contaminated the dairy counter in the kitchen!!

party broke up at 1AM (What a night it was!) my daughter and I were headed to our hotel in a town we'd never been, snowing. turns out, they DON'T have rt on red and EVERY street is one way! so police saw us making bad turns AND we were DRIVING, on Shabbat, in a heavily Hasidic neighborhood. THIS must be suspicious! hence, Driving while gentile.

Incidentally no right on red in most of metro New York where I live. Cops love nailing the tourists for violating all the traffic laws you could never know without reading the NYS driving handbook.

Great interview! I have spent a few nights in MAD TOWN! We used to drive up from Iowa City for Mifflin Days, back in college. That made for some great times and rough mornings. Old Bucky really took it too me. LOL. (also the first place I drank Boones Farm, weird)

Yeah Kraut is super healthy for you........until you go to State Street Brats and pile it on!

Great to hear you are also a Barrel Head! You can run your PBC at 225 F with some tweaks to the bottom damper. And as you said, "It costs less than the Flame Boss." LOL.

Three kids? Yeah you need the Flame boss and a good bottle of scotch.

I would agree with you on joining the forum. My BBQ was much improved when I read the articles. But when I joined the forum, my BBQ went to a whole other level. And the interaction with my fellow pit members was to blame. (Now look at me.)

And you are right about Texas! And head to Austin! The best BBQ I have ever had was in Austin. Plus it is a great town for live music, they are more often than not, found together!

This was a great interview! Thanks for taking the time too let us get to know you. It was a pleasure. And GO HAWKS!! (Sorry I had too.)

I was told by Yahuda's family that the level of Kosher a household practices is generally determined by the wife as, if I got this correctly, within the home, she is in charge?

adamjs83, (greg) Rempe, @www.TheBBQCentralShow.Com, First let Me Apologixe for Missing Your Inteview Last Week‼️ If it wasn't for Karon Adams Post, I probably would still be in the Dark❓ Adam, I truly appreciate Your Candid Explanation of Keeping a Kosher House and the Dietary Complexities! When I was a Kid (55 Yrs Ago) My Brothers, Sister and I Raised Sheep! There were a large Number of Lebanese People Who had immigrated to ND in the early 19-teens to the mid 1920's, Most were Muslim and Practiced Similar Dietary Practices to the Jewish Kosher
as I understood it❗️ They Used to Buy Lambs from Us and their Religious Leaders would Slaughter Them on the Farm by Cutting their Throats and Letting them Bleed Out❓ The Rest of the Process we Gave them Their Privacy❗️ I'll just add that ND was Home of the First Mosque in the United States‼️ I Personally did Not Know a Jewish Person until College 1967/68❓ Now I need to Apologize again for Running Off at The Mouth!
              Great Interview👍👍👍👍👍‼️

adamjs83 great interview, really enjoyed it ..... by the way, Costco has (or used to have) a kosher program for their warehouses in the northeast. My friend that is a meat buyer for Costco is Jewish and he is the guy who created the program.

It's actually a great program Costco has from a price standpoint relative to other sources of kosher meat. for reasons neither religious nor political I have made decisions to only purchase meat thay was treated humanely from birth to slaughter. Unfortunately the kosher product at Costco is commodity meat so I try to only purchase there except when I'm in a pinch.

Late to the party, but it was great hearing from you adamjs83 and getting to know you. Although you were born & raised in Queens I don't detect much of that stereotypical "New York accent". Question for you- I've known for a while that Kosher diets cannot mix meat & dairy, so you cannot eat a cheeseburger, but you must keep your dishes & cutlery separate? You cannot use a steak knife to cut cheese, even if it's been washed? Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm curious to clarify that.

Huskee I think my accent disappeared sometime during the eight years spent in Wisconsin. The rest of my family has that accent which always tends to amuse my midwestern friends.

As far as your question regarding Kosher there are books and books on the subject. The best eli5 I can give you in the subject is that while there are cases under which you would be able to use the same knife, after washing, for both meat and dairy, it is considered best to not do so in order to ensure that you don't a mistake. That way you don't risk creating an unkosher situation inadvertently. Of course there are those who do exactly as you say and just wash their dishes between meat and dairy but there are also those who don't even use the same dishwasher or refrigerator for meat and dairy. I find, as with many things, it's very comfortable in the middle.
