    Close to HEB tortilla on Chuds BBQ Channel?

    I was catching up on Chuds BBQ / Bradley Robinson's channel and was watching his Cinco de Mayo video and noticed that the tortillas he made in that video look really, really close to the HEB flour tortillas we're all obsessed with.

    The tortilla making part starts at 7:20 in.

    In the video description he lists the exact measurements he used:

    450g Bread Flour
    15g Salt
    12g Baking Powder
    130g Tallow
    250g Water

    However, in the actual video, he uses butter-flavored Crisco rather than beef tallow. (Which I did not know was a thing. It's a thing:

    Bradley actually mentions in the video that the person who suggested the butter-flavored Crisco says it makes the tortillas taste just like the HEB ones. So if you don't have an HEB 1.2 miles from your house where you can just wander in any weekday morning and get those fresh, delicious hot piles of ambrosia like I can.....this might be something to try.

    Thanks. I have a bunch in the freezer. When I run out, I am making a HEB run, unless the local taqueria has comparable ones. So what if it is a 15 hour drive

      This certainly is timely as BF sent me this link yesterday. But we have seen my tortilla skillz πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ«£πŸ«£πŸ«£πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„



      Oh yeah, butter flavored crisco is a thing. texastweeter turned me on to it! It comes in sticks just like regular butter.

        I think the oddest thing about this recipes is that they were stretched by hand because the cook lacked a rolling pin 🀷
        Really? Who, that cooks even a little bit, doesn’t have a rolling pin in their kitchen?
