    feel bad about themselves.

Actually the Wegman’s corn tortillas are pretty decent for a prepackaged tortilla. I give them a quick spray with water, and they steam up pretty nicely in a skillet. But they’re NOTHING like those H-E-B tortillas.

If I lived in Texas I wouldn’t even bother with bread, everything would be made with these tortillas. I’d eat warm tortillas with butter, or peanut butter and jelly. I’d wrap ham, cheese, tomatoes lettuce pickle and mayo in a tortilla. I’d make cheesesteaks with them. They are GREAT.

Same. We went shopping there during the Meat Up. I saw them, got confirmation from the Texas contingent that they were the real deal and brought a few packs home. I froze them in 4 packs of 6 each, and kept out the rest for immediate use.

Maybe I ought to ask our son to bring some the next time he visits from Austin.

Tom, these are my favorites from HEB, just heat em up a little and you’re good to go. Discovered them about a year ago. And yeah, I keep mine in the fridge also…..

Don't you have some Tortillia bakeries or Mexican markets around you? I would think you could find some good flour and corn tortillas there apart from the local grocery stores.

I can vouch for HEB tortillas, they are the only ones I buy if I'm too lazy to make my own. My favorite is their Southwestern Flour Tortilla. "Made fresh in store, H-E-B Bakery Southwestern Tortillas are seasoned with a jalapeño, chile and red pepper blend."

HEB tortillas are fully cooked but puff up nicely when reheated.

I think anyone who can shop at HEB and does secret Santa, needs to send tortillas to their person. Not sayin’ just sayin’

What I want to find is a larger tortilla. These 12" ones are everywhere, but no one seems to sell the larger ones that I see everywhere in restaraunts.

I've only found those with the mass produced tortillas at my stores. Thankfully the large flour ones aren't thick and gummy like the mass produced 12" ones.

A few years ago the taqueria in our HEB broke down and was offline for several weeks. It was a very sad time.

The tortillas freeze decently well; I've always got a 20-pack (or two) in the freezer. I generally get the flour ones, but I really like the flour and corn ones for burrito-style things.

HEB is a major sponsor of the Houston Astros and every year has a commercial or two featuring the players.

Here is a frame of pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr discovering that he is out of HEB tortillas. As he is not a professional actor, the anguish on his face is undoubtably real.

To the shock of no one, I just happened to be in my local HEB today…….also! Speaking of…… Several HEB stores in the Houston area have live crawfish boils and sell it by the lb. along with shrimp, sausage, corn and taters. They do this every Fri-Sun during crawfish season. The HEB that several of us went to in Spring was also selling boiled crawfish.

The thing I love about the crawfish is that you literally can see people abandon their shopping lists/dinner plans as they start to walk towards the store.

What’s funny is - at least to this SoCal native who has a plethora of Mexican markets near me - the best tortillas are from Stater Bros bakery.

Some may cry heresy, but it’s true. They make tortilla chips too and they’re hands down the best.

Santamarina and there are two solid reasons I go to SB. I can get pre-made pico in a small portion. And Litehouse Big Blue dressing. And all in the same aisle.

Guilty pleasure: I crave their fried chicken!!! I douse it with Louisiana hot sauce and dip it in Big Blue! Again, same aisle! And BF loves the potato wedges.
