I think most everything has been said above this response. I am on my second SV unit and I thought I would throw this out there for the people who are less than enthusiastic about the SV being dependent on Bluetooth to start the dang thing up.
My first unit was a Joule. Loved it! Used it for almost two years and I wore it out. My opinion is that the app I had to use on my phone was way more complex than what I needed, and I got a constant error telling me the Joule couldn't connect to my wi-fi at home. There are only about three different temps I ever cooked at, and I didn't need 19 sub categories telling it what meat I was cooking and I didn't need suggested times--It's SV for goodness sakes and that's the point. Time on everything is "long enough."
So I did a little research online and found a no Bluetooth, no wi-fi SV unit. It has a dial. You set the temp by turning the dial. You set the hours and minutes by turning the dial and pushing the middle (only) button. Then it turns on. Then it cooks. The Brian App works just fine with it. Never had a compatibility issue at all.
So I just thought I'd mention that if anyone is at all frustrated with it being tied to your phone, there are other options out there. And for a glass of wine, I'll come to your house and install the Brian App myself. :-)
