lol, I won The Golden Ladle!

I didn’t even know I was playing for it!

Mary Joan asked me to make some soup for her office; last Monday they were all bringing soups. So I made some ham and bean soup. I did it straight up, nothing fancy: mirepoix, ham bone, simmer for about 90 minutes, then strained; added celery and carrots and potatoes back in, a few cans of white beans, a couple pounds of diced ham, and some frozen peas for color. Seasoned with some thyme and bay leaves, salt and pepper. I puréed sometimes broth for texture.

Yesterday she brought home The Golden Ladle! I guess the idea is, they vote on who made the best what. I gotta say, it was a pretty good soup.

So I took the ladle, posed it, and added some text, and sent it back to the office, where it got a chuckle:

Congratulations. I like the peas idea. I shred a little carrot for the color and touch of sweetness. Going to make some bean soup here in a couple of days. I may try your tip

Tom you deserve far more than 1 Golden Ladle with the skills you've shared with us here over the years. But that's soup-er cool, and a testament to your culinary care & skill that you won without even knowing you were competing. Congrats.
