That’s funny! The worst way to win an argument is with statistics. I don’t care if everyone in Texas wants beans in their chili I don’t want them in mine. Texans are by no means anti-bean. Almost any cafe in south Texas has beans on their breakfast menu with all the options. Look around and you’ll see most folks are having beans with their breakfast. I love pinto beans and cornbread. It’s like not wanting pineapple on your pizza. It’s ok not to want beans in chili. I know this argument will continue because it’s fun !
This was one of those things we had to work through when I got married. My wife's family is from Texas and they are not just no-beans, they militantly so. I always grew up with beans in my chili, and to me the only chili that didn't have beans was hot dog chili. The compromise was this - whomever makes the chili can make it however they like. Been married 20 years, and I have yet to have a bowl of chili without beans.
