The last word on beans in chili

I don't know who Kelly is, or if her kitchen is really clean, but she is on the internet so she must be an expert. And she says... BEANS!!!

There is nothing better than a hearty chili. I like chili in all forms, ground beef, chicken chili, turkey chili, but a hearty Texas style beef chili always hits the

She would have been okay calling it beef chili, but she is completely out of line when she added Texas.

Hey Oak Smoke, I was wondering how you achieve a fine edge on a graham cracker? Any tips, tricks or advice?

Troutman I only know that it’s much harder to achieve with the edge wet.

I don't know, if it doesn't have clams and Brussels sprouts can you really call it authentic Texas chili?

DaveD Like ground turkey or chicken, kale is a regional option for authentic Texas chili. You'll find those versions in areas around Austin and San Antonio.

My foodie pal Jenni (she of the killer pork rub and in deference to whom I use the term "chilibeans") told me a tale her dad recounted about the Terlingua event one year in response to my (quite serious) question about what proteins were considered acceptable in Texas chili. Dad said it's all good, that year the winner used rabbit, and won by a hare.

          Nice Dad joke!

I actually think bunny would be a pretty good chili protein. I use it my paella and folks love it. And if it's good enough to win a Terlingua Chili Cookoff it's authentic Texas enough for me.

Her chili looks good to me. I like the idea of using stew meat in place of ground meal.

If it was on the internet, it has to be true. You anti-beaners should just admit you are wrong and move on.

So that’s what chefs hats are for, to hold your brain together? L I B.

I also thought the last word could be silent but deadly or noisy & rowdy.

This will never be the last word. And I heard Abram Lincoln added bean to his chili. He got the idea from Jimmy Carter.

You must not have read the title of this thread. She said beans belong. On the internet. And don't tell me someone else on the internet says they don't belong. She's the expert. Thats the last word. Period. End. Of everything.

Pretty sure I wouldn't take advice from a 25-year-old on, well, anything, unless they were a fully accredited tradesperson, like a plumber, mechanic, electrician etc - 25 is just about old enough to have a clue with proper training. I have t-shirts older than that (in fact I am wearing one right now).

Pretty sure I need not repeat my stance on beans
