    Upgrading Canned Chili

Amanda is heading out on a two-week trip. She bought some canned chili. I have the option of taking it to work for lunch or upgrading it for dinner for me and the remaining two kids.

Is it realistic to be able to upgrade this chili for a weekday dinner in a reasonable amount of time? What other ingredients would you add if so?

    1. Open can
    2. Pick out all beans and throw em in the garbage
    3. Use remaining contents to go on your hot dog

In retrospect, I can see how now how this could have been a bad idea.

My honest opinion: waste of time and ingredients. No matter what you do, it will taste like canned chili but with other stuff in it.

Fair and what I was thinking would likely be the answer. I guess it is lunch for me!

In a not so small town chili cook off a few years ago a guy pulled off the win using Hormel chili with two beers added. Of coarse he didn’t admit it at the cook off. Several people knew and were so amazed that he won that they laughed and said nothing. You might be able to make something digestible from it.

Once again, beer is the solution.

Beer...Is there anything it can't do? or Beer: Now, there's a temporary solution. (both by Homer Simpson)

Oak Smoke I’m not really sure if that’s not just a myth. I’ve heard the same story except it was with Wendy’s chili. I could be wrong though.

You can add a few dashes of things like garlic powder, Lawry’s and cumin. A few dashes of hot sauce and wochestershire and it wil probably be serviceable.

Add some roasted chiles. That always helps many dishes.
