    Looking for dip ideas

In an effort to get more veggies in my diet, I have been cutting raw vegetables to use as dippers for snacks.
Pre made dips are getting a bit pricey, so I’ve taken to adding different things to sour cream.
Anyone ever use rubs for seasoning dips? I’ve done onion dip and ranch dip and those are getting kinda meh
I tried making one with a Greek seasoning blend that was a bit underwhelming. I found a jar of everything but the bagel in the back of the spice cabinet. Thinking I’m gonna try that next. Also made me think I might try using some different rubs… mmd, s&g,…?

    thoughts? Ideas?

I use “everything bagel” seasoning just in general. Even on buttered toast. It’s pretty good. That, and also chili-lime, like Tajín, but a different brand. I think you’d be good with both/either of those.

I didn’t go looking anything up, but I do know that a lot of dip recipes call for different ratios of sour cream and either mayonnaise or cream cheese, or both, and sometimes yogurt instead of sour cream. I’m not a big fan of plain unsweetened yogurt myself, so I don’t keep it around to experiment with, and I won’t buy it just to experiment with it either. But if you have it and like it, it’s probably worth considering as a base for a dip.

I have replaced sour cream with plain yogurt in my spinach and vegetable dips. I actually like it better as the dips don't taste so heavy. I too am trying to eat more veggies and also watch my saturated fats.

I bought a bottle of Tajin. I wasn’t crazy about it, so it just sits on the shelf. Maybe using it in a dip is just the medium that will work for me 🤔

I'm a big fan of making wings using Jess Pryles' Hardcore Carnivore Tex-Mex seasoning. I learned about it from this video where she also makes some killer dipping sauce that uses her Jalapeno Salt. I can definitely see myself just making the sauce for veggies.

My favorite dip is Buffalo dip- shredded chicken (I like rotisserie), cream cheese, cheese, and Frank's or a Buffalo sauce. Can't help much with seasonings though, but I do know Mh's Big Bad Beef Rub works great to add a kick to anything you want to have a kick beyond black pepper or cayenne.

A pan of Buffalo chicken dip will be coming out of the oven just in time for tonight’s opening kickoff

Guacamole is always good, as is cottage cheese with dehydrated onions and your favorite rub mix (sweet?).

That sounds good. I like guacamole, but I’m looking at things I can make that will last the work week…

Finster my boss makes this yogurt based dip with fresh dill. And have you tried Tajin on cantaloupe or watermelon? Delicious! It’s also good on jicama.

I was going to suggest hummus, but I don't know how long that would last.

I love hummus. I just buy it, but need to try making it myself.

Finster if you make it from scratch, try a dash or two of ground cumin. It was a game changer for me. Also, I use a food processor and toss in an ice cube, it seriously “fluffs” up the mix and makes it light as air.

Korean ssamjang is one of my favorite things to dip veggies (specifically carrots and cucumbers). It’s simple to make (granted two of the ingredients are alittle specialized - gochujang and doenjang - but aren’t that exotic and shouldn’t be too hard to find) and lasts a long time. Maangchi has a good version on her website.
