I gave a neighbor some fresh sushi grade tuna I caught and got professionally processed and flash frozen BFT this past fall. The neighbors thawed & cooked it. Froze left overs. Then thawed and made tuna noodle casserole. They some to me and I froze it.
Is it safe to thaw, warm & eat?
I hate wasting food (especially game I harvested for food), want to honor their hospitality, but don’t want to risk getting sick.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
We buy fresh tuna, and freeze it, thaw in frig when making either poke or quick searing raw. Any leftovers we finish the following day. Re freezing cooked tuna would definitely affect the texture quality. Not sure on the safety aspect. May depend on how long it was sitting out after being cooked and getting to room temperature. Personally I wouldn't do it.
