FDA warns against eating certain shrimp sold at Walmart
FYI, the US Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday urged the public not to eat certain bags of frozen raw shrimp sold at Walmart, citing concerns about unsanitary conditions andradioactive contamination found in shipments from the same supplier.
The FDA said that a radioactive isotope, cesium-137, was detected in a sample of breaded shrimp detained at US ports – in Los Angeles, Houston, Savannah, and Miami – from an Indonesian supplier named BMS Foods.
For home use I go with the Wild Caught Argentine shrimp from Costco.
It you can’t trust Costco who can you trust 🤷🏼♂️
Ordering shrimp in a restaurant is a crapshoot but I don’t do that very often so maybe I’m safe 🤔

When I was at Hopkins they were closing all the Civil Defense shelters and throwing out everything. I snagged a few Geiger counters and then went on a binge for a week or two to find things that were radioactive. Stupid but fun.

No one in my house eats much seafood, especially shrimp (which I love to eat), so I never get the ok to buy any.
Plus we rarely buy food from Wally World. Wife can't stand the lines, doesn't care for a lot of their generic stuff, and gets frustrated with people blocking entire aisles having loud conversations.
But it's good to know about foreign shrimp. Had no idea, but I'll definitely pay attention if I'm ever allowed to buy it!

Reason: Had to add something about the local Wally Mart...
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I only bought wild caught anymore - from Gulf of America/Mexico or the Argentina Red's. I refuse any farmed fish or shrimp, aside from US farmed catfish.
