In the Houston area between me and Galveston is a little town called Seabrook, Tx. It’s home to several seafood markets, most of what they sell is fresh off the boats trolling the Gulf of Mexico. Even though it’s only about 45 minutes away, I rarely go there for my shrimp, too lazy I guess. I’ve been there before for fresh seafood, but it’s been several years. Anyway, a friend of mine lives in nearby Kemah and called me the other day. Said he was coming in town and asked me if I wanted any Gulf shrimp, said he’d pick some up for me and drop it off at my house…..he had an appointment near me so it really wasn’t out of his way. Hell yeah I said!
One of the few grocery stores that sells fresh, not frozen, Gulf Shrimp is HEB. I just checked and they want $11.99 lb for theirs. My buddy Mark got mine for $5.79 lb for the large/jumbo size……Hell of a good deal! Anyway, I had him bring me 3 lbs. and I just got through bagging em up and freezing them. This stuff is so much better than the farm raised or the Asian shrimp sold everywhere else. I’ve decided that from now on I’ll be making the drive down there myself when these are gone.

The construction on 146 is just brutal, though. Although....I could go up to NASA Rd 1 and come into Kemah from the north.
