Has anyone seen anything about a Diamond Crystal shortage? I thought I saw something earlier in the week but can't find it now. I know there have been false rumors of them discontinuing it in the past. I checked the two stores I normally buy it from and the shelves were empty.

Other useful bits...
KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8-qt + accessories like egg-bite & egg holders
All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens
Weber GBS griddle, pizza stone, and wok
Knives range from Mercer to F. Dick to "You spent how much for one knife? One knife?!" LOL
It probably gets dropped from stores periodically because it doesn’t sell as well as better known brands like Morton’s.
It’s a shame because I prefer it. These days I’ll order it from Amazon as likely as not...perhaps more so.
Much like Maldon’s, I only know a handful of places that keep it in stock...and even then it seems to be limited.

We buy that stuff by the truckload. Every great once in a while our supplier runs out (likely their ordering error) and they sub out Morton’s Kosher in our delivery instead.
The whole restaurant staff goes Bonkers over having to use Morton’s. You’d think someone slashed our tires or something.
Don’t mess with our salt man.
And no, we have tons.

That's funny. I have used Mortons for years, since it was the only Kosher salt our local store carried. Then last September or October poof the blue Mortons boxes were missing from the shelves, but room had been made for the red Diamond Crystal box. I was actually excited to try the crystal. However I quickly missed my Mortons! It is all about the pinch! A pinch of Crystal just isn't the same as a pinch MortonsLast edited by djl; January 18, 2020, 08:32 PM.
