I'm using a disposable one that can, however, be refilled. I'm thinking I should probably upgrade at some point. What do you use?

My main (cooking) mill is a William Bounds Ltd. that can be quickly adjusted for fine/medium/coarse grinds. Table-top mills are Peugeot. I don't think the the Wm. Bounds mills are available anymore so, if I were you, I'd go with anything from Peugeot.
EDIT: Just discovered that some William Bounds mills are still available on Amazon.Last edited by MBMorgan; February 25, 2019, 04:27 PM.

They aren't cheap. I was at the restaurant supply store and scoffed at the prices. But now I see they are in line, at least with the Peugeot brands on Amazon. I use a personal blender when grinding for rubs. This will just be for the table or grill side.
-
Attjack - Yeah ... Peugeot mills have always been a little pricey but their grinder parts are supposed to be about the best out there. They seem to pretty much last forever (I think ours are 30 - 35 years (or more) old and still going strong).

We've had a couple pairs of these for about 4 years. No issues.

I have one I got at my wedding 9 years ago I love. It is by Vic Firth (the drumstick company) and it has worked great for us. Wish it had a bit more peppercorn capacity but it is constructed very well. Nice wood too.

I'm with you, I use a disposable one from the grocery stores, work great and could be refilled I suppose. I had though about getting a battery-powered one, for those times I have a lot of meat to pepper, but haven't yet.

I use a Nutribullet with its milling blade for grinding a lot of spice for rubs. Works great.

Here is the pic of the Vic Firth ones I have. Did some looking around and it doesn't look like they are being made anymore. Looks like this place bought that part of the business from them: http://fletchersmill.com/products/ca...sa-wood-mills/

I have a Fletchers Mill grinder that only holds about a teaspoon of peppercorns - runs out way too fast. But it does a stellar job of grinding pepper as fine as you want it. I also have a vintage Peugeot that is still going strong. It's about the same size as the Fletchers Mill grinder, but the Peugeot has a LOT more capacity.

I have two Peugeots - one on the table and one in the kitchen. My throat always has trouble with fresh-ground pepper from other mills as the grind is too coarse. Peugeots are the only ones with a fine enough grind for me.

We use OXO pepper mills. They came in a salt/pepper set at the local grocer. Not too expensive and works well. There’s a grind adjustment on it. We’ve refilled them a few times and they seem to be holding up well. I’d recommend them. Two draw backs: 1) It’s two handed so you can’t be all meat hands and use it unless you plan to clean it. 2) When you switch from coarse to fine grind you may have to knock out a couple peppercorns that get pinched in there.

We have two. A cheap Ikea ceramic model that has always had a bent shaft, so the grind is uneven. However, you can adjust it to have a finer or courser uneven.
The other grinder is part of a set for salt and pepper that we received for Christmas. I have no idea what brand it is - the box is long gone, but the set looks nice with pepper in one and Himalayan pink salt in the other.

We have used a Cole and Mason happily for a few years, like Larry Grover above. However, we received an Atlas Pepper Mill as a Christmas gift last year and we really like it. Big advantage is the crank that gives much better leverage than the twist top of the Cole and Mason. We also like the finer grand of the Atlas.
