    Asian rib rub

I wanted to do kind of a riff on Asian ribs. There are some great recipes on this site, but I didn't want to marinade, I just wanted to rub. Here's what I came up with.

    1/4 cup smoked paprika
    1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons hot dry mustard
    1 tablespoon ground ginger
    1 tablespoon ground star anise
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
    1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
    1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

This should be enough for a couple of racks. Obviously no salt, because I dry brined, and I expect you would too. I would love it if you tried it and gave me your opinion.

I'm doing a few racks Monday. I'll try this one and see how goes. Thanks!

Looking pretty close to being "five spice powder" based. Should be great!

Five spice also has cloves and fennel. This would be better for my tastes because it DOESN'T have cloves.

BBQ_Steve-O you and I are on the same page. I don't mind five spice, but clove is not what I was going for here. Fennel to me isn't a lot different than anise, didn't feel like I needed both.

Smokey, salty from the brine, bitter and sweet. Should be good.
