I do use Killer Hogs as my base rub or just the rub for anything that I am going to use rub on. I like many of Malcolm s rubs. I think everybody has some taste expectations on what a rub should be like thus determining their favorite. My main issue is easy on the salt then go from there. So many rubs out there, so little time.

That's one of the 3 I have. I use it pretty regularly.

Killer Hogs Memphis Rub is killer! B Never mind...I love Killer Hogs, but the Memphis rub I'm thinking of is put out by Three Little Pigs. Sorry about that.Last edited by mrteddyprincess; January 12, 2026, 02:03 PM.

I've tried almost all of those, and I will say that of the big name brands I'm just not that high on the Kosmos offerings. Also the Bone Suckin' Sauce rub underwhelmed me but I went in with high hopes from liking their actual sauce, there's just too many other similar rubs that do it better IMO.
For rubs with multiple options, Meat Church is hard to beat and that Holy Gospel is a fine rub for sure, though I do prefer the Holy Cow. The Dia de la Fajita is probably my favorite rub of theirs though.
However, I wonder about how that site compiles the input of their various reviewers. Their Best Pellet Grills review has the Yoder as the best premium smoker, yet their review of the LSG says that's the best smoker they've tested to date, which was before their best smokers list and long after their Yoder test. Not that a Yoder being on the list is a big deal, they are the best high end pellet grill you can get at a local store, but that's not how the list is presented

Grilla Silverbac
Grilla Primate
Grilla Kong
Weber Kettle
Camp Chef Escape
Old Hickory Knives
More Cast Iron than I care to admit
I want to try PS Seasonings. Becoming a fan of Sucklebusters products. Meat Church is good for sure, if I had to critique it is ground very fine.

I like Sucklebusters, too Their SPG goes well on just about anything. Their Lemon SPG goes well on seafood. If you are into sweet rubs Meat Candy goes great on pork.Last edited by LA Pork Butt; January 3, 2026, 07:49 AM.

Kinda of a stretch, IMHO, to call Lowry’s Seasoned Salt a rub, then comment about how much salt it has.
I’ve watched a lot of bbq videos the last few years and can’t remember any that used only Lowry’s. But I could be wrong, just ask my ex how often she thought I was wrong. 😀
At this point I’m heavily stocked in Meat Church products, so not likely to buy any of those listed.

Weber Kettle with an SNS
Masterbuilt kettle that I call the $30 wonder grill
Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
Heath Rile’s Garlic Jalapeño rub is one of my favs. And then the Meat Church brand, I keep three on hand and mix a few for various things. My son loves the Danos brand and the Carnivore brand I think it was.
A good line up of rubs in that list!

With all due respect to the list, I have not bought a commercial rub close to 10 years now. I've adjusted some AR rubs and other rubs I have found in various cookbooks to my liking and have been quite happy with the results.

Meat Church is definitely my favorite line of rubs, I like Kosmos Q Dirty Bird and the 2 Gringo’s rub. My favorite is becoming the Hardcore Carnivore stuff I got from my secret Santa. That stuff is fantastic.

I have used Salt Lick a long time ago. The fact that I don’t I use it now probably means it is just okay. Dizzy Pig’s Pineapple Head goes well on fruit, but Dizzy Pig rubs are too darn expensive. Sucklebuster’s Hog Waller is good, but I like my pork shoulder rub better. While not on the list I thought Meat Church’s Voodoo rub and Sucklebusters Klucker Dust were good chicken rubs.

I was interested and looking too see if Dizzy Pig made the list. Not cheap, but they are local to me so supporting them is a bonus. I had never considered the pineapple. Their raging river is my all time favorite. I buy it in the larger containers and for ribs I cut it 50:50 with a belnd of garlic and onion powder. Also their original SPG (salt pepper garlic) is very versatile.and my current favorite season salt.

As I have been thinking about these rubs, it is a little like our experience at the Meat Ups. There isn’t much that separates one highly ranked BBQ joint from another. I think it is somewhat like that when it comes to rubs along with personal preference. One great thing about the Pit is that sharing your preference might turn out to be someone else’s. At least it will give a rub worth trying. Since the pit is a non judgement site, it is okay for folks to have different likes.

What do you mean non-judgemental? I judge people like Panhead John, Uncle Bob and texastweeter all the time. Not favorably
