Anyone heard of Penzeys?

I do not determine which business I will patronize by their political stance. However, if they are vocal and specific in their hatred of me for my political stances, and specifically tells me to take my business elsewhere, I will do that. Therefore, this business is dead to me.

Further clarification… I do not like when businesses shove their political beliefs on me. I think boycotting people based on political beliefs is generally unwise. If it gets to be too much, I’ll just drift away.

This company went far beyond that. They explicitly expressed their hatred against people who hold my political beliefs, and told us we are not welcome to do business with their company. That’s well beyond just showing political beliefs down my throat.

I’m not in the habit of forcing myself on someone when I’m told I’m not welcome, so I’ll just move on.

I’m also uneasy about buying food products from someone that has been that explicit in their hatred of a group of people that includes me, and in their telling this group of people they are unwelcome. There is a certain level of being unhinged that led to their actions, and that doesn’t give me confidence in my safety, should I patronize them. I would say the risk is minimal, but there’s enough red flags I will just pass.

Penzey's is, to me. the best. I go out of my way to order from them. I previously lived no where near a store and just watched for them to lower the free shipping minimum and ordered by mail. Now I live closer and make regular visits.

Penzey's products are great and I couldn't of cared less what Bill Penzey's political views are until he made it clear that he didn't want my business because my political views are different than his. So I honored his request and now order from the Spice House. Our oldest son lives in Bloomington, IL and there is a little shop called Spice Works that is my favorite place to get spices. Unfortunately they don't ship so I only get to buy from them when I am in Bloomington or when my son comes to visit and can bring an order. If you are near Bloomington, IL I highly recommend Spice Works.
