Oddly, one of the things on my rdar is to try to replicate this. I can find it (the sauce) here but it's $11/bottle and while that's fair, I want to see if I can DIY it. I'll let you know.
scottranda how much was it at Costco? Like rickgregory, its gone up at the grocery store I buy it at (The Fresh Market). Was $7.99 last year, now its $10.99 I think.
This stuff is the bomb, and I use it more as a stir fry sauce than I do a BBQ sauce. So good. And all organic.
Looking at the ingredients, it's basically a teriyaki sauce with tomato paste and rice vinegar. So finding a good gluten free teriyaki sauce or recipe and doctoring it up a bit will probably get you 90% there.

Yes, I can get GF Soy sauce at Costco up here and I was planning on substituting that for the soy sauce in the recipe, but just wondered if anyone had a Bachan's recipe...
Gluten-Free Japanese Barbecue Sauce. Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce is made from ten simple and carefully curated ingredients, cold-filled in small batches based on the recipe of my bachan herself-our grandmama-and generations of bachan’s before her.
Most tonkatsu I've tried are more soy forward than the Bachan, though I used the spicy Bachan. But yes, these are close and one reason I don't want to blow $12 on the Bacan though it's very good.
You guys have got me going to get some of this today. I’ve heard of it before but never tasted it. Went to Amazon and read a ton of positive reviews on how good it is. Just an FYI but my Kroger sells it for $8.99
I just boiled some water, put some edamame (already out of its shell) in boiled water for 4 minutes. Drained and Cooled it down. I put some of that Bachan sauce in there and it was really good! Nice Asian flavor to some edamame.
scottranda and myself were wondering about recipes and or uses for this. Anyone have some quick easy suggestions for its uses? I just bought some yesterday. What’s it good on? Can you put it on wings right before they’re done? Do you use it just like a regular BBQ sauce? Thanks for any suggestions. jfmorris

Before I even read the comments, I’m all, "the wing whisperer" is asking what to use this sauce for? Panhead John all this talk about the sauce this week, that’s how I am doing my wings for tomorrow night!
SheilaAnn Let’s all show our wings on SUWYC this weekend! Made with the Bachan’s Japanese BBQ sauce of course… Curious to see how everyone’s looks and what they think….
My box of Bachan's is out for delivery now. So, weather cooperating, I should be able to participate, but it's likely gonna be thighs instead of wings.
