We will serve fresh fried onion straws that have been soaked in buttermilk and dredged with spiced flour or fresh fried shoe string potatoes.

If you two decide to have a steak cook-off I will be the judge.
Until then you may settle in "twice baked potatoes". bake em, mash em, stuff em, bake em, gravy on the side.
The best way to settle the argument is "Yes Dear", "Bake potato when you cook, Mash and gravy when I cook".
Either way pairs well with PBR.

either, but if you go mashed - make it interesting by adding in something unexpected like a bit of smoked blue cheese.

garlic, while tasty, can be over-exposed.

Potatoes au gratin for me. I'm probably spoiled by too many years eating at Palm Too (RIP!) in Manhattan.

Not a regular but went there probably three or four times a year, usually with family in town. Probably as much as I went to any other steakhouse in NYC. What steakhouse do you frequent now in lieu of Too?

Bumby - Now that In full time in the Poconos except for work, I don't really. I've been to Delmonico's downtown a few times with a colleague but nothing regular, like it was with Too.

Potatoes took second place in our home. Congri is what we prefer with our steaks. The rice fills the starch craving. The beans can take the edge off things near the end of the month. The cilantro complements the steak seasonings, and bacon, grease, and butter complements the beef it self. Happy meal, happy wife equal a happy home, and no oils needed so it's heart and cancer healthy.

We have a divided house. I’m a Coug and vote for baked potatoes; my wife is a Husky and hates baked potatoes and always wants mashed potatoes. I do make some mean garlic mashed potatoes though, always a hit at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I use more butter and heavy cream than anyone would want to know. Gravy isn’t needed but doesn’t hurt. Of course, I love any type of potatoes, au gratin, fries, tots, roasted, new, twice baked, etc.

For a compromise try potato pillows https://idahopotato.com/recipes/idaho-potato-pillows We ate several times at an Argentine restaurant in Veracruz MX which served something similar with the steaks. Loved them. While we still can’t figure out all the restaurant’s secrets on how they prepared them, this is a starter recipe that gets you close.

          ABSOLUTELY!
Sliced thin, just a touch of oil and a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch added in.

That's amazing! I don't think I ever encountered a regular with their picture on the wall. Were you able to get the image after Too closed?
