Better Get It While You Can…Sriracha Sauce!

Apparently there’s a nationwide shortage of Sriracha Sauce due to red jalapeño shortages in Mexico. Just saw this today.

The company that makes Sriracha told customers it will have to stop making the sauce for the next few months due to "severe weather conditions affecting the quality of chili peppers."

I've actually never used Siracha Sauce, so I think I'm ok...

I will have to snag some the next time I see it. I use it as a condiment with yum yum sauce when I do stir fries on the flat top.

MsTwiggy Maybe a little! However, I have been on a Mexican hot sauce kick for a while. For instance, I used to use sriracha in my bloody Marys but I've been using habanero hot sauce instead for quite a while now.

MsTwiggy I am more worried about my Thai bird chili supply. Fortunately, I just planted some starts today so with any luck I'll be cooking with them the latter half of summer 🌶️

The Tabasco version is great. None of them are very hot but keep a bottle of both in stock and one of each on deck

That is my absolute most favorite sriracha. They quite carrying it at my regular grocery store, so I need to hunt some down while its available.

Yeah, the Tabasco version is pretty good, the one with the chicken not so much. I can whip up a better one than either so I could live without any of them.

I use it, but by the time I finish the large bottle I have the shortage should be over. And then there is still an abundance of Louisiana Hot. LOL

I like Sriracha, but I like a lot of other pepper sauces too. It's not like a substitute would be too hard to come up with.

There's also other sriracha sauces that are made in and around Si Racha, Thailand.

I wonder how much of this is to blame on Huy Fong dumping their long-time pepper supplier, Underwood Farms?

I was going to comment on this. For years, Huy Fong bought those peppers in my home county of Ventura. I think I drive by those same fields everyday on the way to work.
FWIW, Underwood Family Farms started making their own Sriracha sauce after the business' separated. I hope they can sell a few more bottles.

SmokingPat - We're big fans of Underwood. Their Sriracha is different from Huy Fong's, but very good. They make other very good, spicy sauces, as well. I've only seen them for sale at the farm stand and at their farmer's market stands, though.

I dont use sriracha so I should be good. The only hot sauce I use is Frank's

That stuff is made over in Irwindale, CA. My son uses it all the time on foods, but I only use it as an ingredient in just a few recipes. Yellowbird is better.

Agreed! I learned about Yellowbird a year ago and haven't been without it since.

I just bought a big bottle, and I can live without it, and I can live without sambal olek, and Frank's, and Tabasco, but if there's ever a Tapatio shortage? Imma CUT a M0%#&*F*$%#R!
