    Strong rye bread, thick cut hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, kraut or coleslaw, thousand island or mustard and a fermented sour pickle.

    Rye is my first choice. A nice hoagie roll second. And while not “traditional” I absolutely love sourdough bread, so I’d use it for this sammich.

    Only other requirements for me are mustard and dill pickles - heavy on both.

      Living on the other side of the pond so to speak I have always been in awe of some offerings from the US side and a Reubens type sandwich tops the bill.

      Been making my own pastrami for years now and for me the perfect sandwich is rye bread, pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, swiss cheese and Russian dressing, Thousand Island if I cant get Russian. Particular about the cheese too, it has to be La Gruyere as the sweet nutty flavour complements everything else.... all served toasted using a sandwich / panini press grill.

      Or is this what is called a Rachel?!
