    Slicing Sandwich Techniques

I used to know this but I can't remember.

Please tell me why every deli, cafe, sandwich shop, etc. slices sandwiches diagonally AND why do they all cut Club Sandwiches into fourths?

    Thanks in advance.

Placed side by side the sandwich appears larger and gives more room for sides on the plate. Clubs, because of the height, can be eaten daintily by those with manners.

I like the diagonal cuts. I don't know why for sure, but I think it makes it more pleasant to eat.

Diagonals also offer more efficient dipping opportunities

Club sandwich cuts want you to have that “club” feel.

If you cut it down the middle the flavor runs out...

Then there are those of us if’n ya cut it down the middle we eyeball it to see if it’s Rilly Cut Down The Middle & Is Precisely in Half!
I mean, doesn’t it get ya when some sub subshop employee slipshodily cuts a sub and it’s not even close to bein in half. I sometimes want to leap over the glass paraphernalia and want to grab the knife out of his/her hand and show em how it is done. I mean, I mean sandmiches should be cut precisely, yessir!
Furthermore, how do ya like that word in a sandmich discussion, if’n it is not cut half exactly then ya half to ask yerself, “what piece do I eat first, the big’n or the lil’n?” A case fer high anxiety.

Sounds like your sandwich shop needs one of those table rulers like the fabric shops have.

Over the years I’ve picked up many a foot-long sub sandwich with the intent of eating half for lunch and half for dinner. When it’s not even it screws up the whole plan. So the new plan becomes eat as much as I want for lunch and figure out something else for dinner.
