“Chopped Salad Sandwich”? WT…heck?

I always laugh when a deconstructed whatever at some not so fancy places is just like a burger, buns on one side, patty on the other and toppings on fancy side dishes... there are some really good deconstructed dishes, they are NOT as simple as just not assembling or combining the ingredients.

Also, if tidepods should have taught us anything it's that you should NEVER repeat let alone eat anything you see on tiktok. Yet here we are, years after the tide rolled thorugh and now 7-11s are having to have cops on standby because kids are buying (well usually buying) slurpees and throwing them on their cars leaving trash and a sticky mess in the lot or at the pumps.

I’ve done this two or three times with an Italian sub. It’s actually quite tasty. It does taste different and the texture is something new.

I myself love things like this. Show me another way of doing something I’ve done the same way my whole life and I will try it.

I don’t want to eat an Italian sub the same way I’ve eaten it for the past 20 years. Show me a new way, technique, or application of food and I’m all in.

In my opinion it’s along the same lines as cooking burgers many different ways. A grilled hamburger is delicious, but a smash burger on a griddle is also delicious, a no flip smoked burger is delicious and a normal thickness burger cooked in a cast iron pan is something I’ll eat also because it is delicious. Heck even a chopped cheese sandwich (which is delicious) is just making a hamburger in a different way.

If I decided I didn’t want to try to do things in a different way I’d be eating a grilled hamburger for the rest of my life and would have missed out on the many other ways to eat a hamburger.

I like the idea and think it’s different than a sandwich, and brings the chicken salad or tuna salad sandwich into play a bit. The bread, or tortilla if you make it a wrap, offers a textural balance in a way. Now, I’d just eat the salad myself, because of calories or whatever, but I like the concept.
