    Team Cook 2025 Recap

I realized that we have been doing this for the whole year! So in year end tradition, I give you a short recap.

Team Cook just kinda popped in my head and enough of a were interested to kick it off. The idea was to get us out of our comfort zones, try a new technique, hone up on skills that may have gotten rusty. We did pie crusts twice. We broke a few eggs and did an omelette. We (meaning me 🀣) tried biscuits again. And to finish out the year, we did a complex recipe that was quite a challenge. Cassoulet racked up the MOST posts, even though only 3 of us did the cook.

For me, the biggest comfort zone that was β€œbusted” is that yakima posted pictures!! 🫢🏻🫢🏻🫢🏻πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

That said, if anyone is interested in keeping this going, I defer to you, Pitmasters! I had a blast and will continue to participate, just not lead.

    Benevolently yours,

    SheilaAnn

Sorry to hear that you are going to step down, we appreciate what you created. I did participate in a few and enjoyed the challenge. Maybe one suggestion if it does continue is to select some recipes that don't include some really hard to get ingredients. Spices aren't too much of an issue as Amazon will cover that. Just us remote people have issues. Thanks again for getting this started.

I came here today to say something. after kinda posting pictures. Daughter helped me a bunch.

I have very much enjoyed this. The December cassoulet basically forced me to learn pics, clumsy as I am. Anything that complicated needed documentation.

IMHO, this deserves to keep going. I hereby nominate our Benevolent Dictatrix, SheilaAnn, to carry on.

I move that SheilaAnn is renominated by acclaimation.

Panhead John hot dogs with ketchup month 1, chili with beans month 2. Repeat all year.

On a tangent, this last cook resulted in having a surplus of pork skin, some with little fat attached. Basically just skin.
        Chiccarones?

If the forum software allows it, I think there might be a way to automate it? Things like this are things AI is actually kinda good at as well, though I doubt the forum software has anything integrated yet for free at least.

Regardless, I've enjoyed this even if I only participated a few times.

I only did one of the cooks, but I enjoyed reading along with the others. I hope we can find a way to keep it going. Either way, thanks go out to you, SheilaAnn for shepherding us throughout.

Maybe, if somebody has a cool recipe they could just post it and see where if goes. After that somebody else could post something we could keep it going with nobody really being committed to a full time job. Kind of like a pop up team cook.

Since captainlee nominated Panhead John, and John had a secret, 1 voter poll that elected me, lets get started. Hot dogs! And not just any dogs. Something classy, like Echrich. Maybe Ball Park, but not the beef ones. The regular pork-ish ones with all the spare bits and pieces. Now this is very important: THE DOGS MUST BE BOILED!!!! No grilling or air frying or griddling allowed. For the buns, lets go with supermarket brand white buns. No fancy sourdough or whole grain buns. We want them to get nice and soggy. Finally, the only condiment allowed is.... wait for it... KETCHUP! Or CATSUP. Again, store brands only. No Heinz or Hunts.

Let's get busy people! For a quick sneak peak for Feb - chili with beans!!!

We won't miss SheilaAnn handling this at all. I am like Allstate. You're in good hands!

Did we decide to pick a leader or just have members submit ideas? If the latter, do we want to do a sign up list by month to avoid a free-for-all; like this?

              1. January WI Bubba (or whatever your name is today): Stuffed Italian Sausage Smoke Bomb
              2. February Panhead John Texas Clam Chowder
              3. March klflowers Boiled hot dogs with ketchup
              4. Etc.

              I added a sign up post: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ick-your-month

I won't change it again for at least 72 hours. Mostly because Huskee is busy and won't get to it before then 😝
