Team Cook 2026 Sign Up - Pick Your Month

I was talking with some other members and we decided it might be best for anyone who wants to lead a monthly cook to sign up for a month. That way we don't have a lot of confusion by having several recipes being thrown out there at once each month. This is a tentative idea, if everyone would prefer to pick from a list of recipes each month that is fine too.

I'll start a tentative sign up list here. My plan is for anyone who wishes to lead a Team Cook to pick a month but don't reveal your recipe now, wait until the month of the Team Cook.

Review the Team Cook basics post, but here is the main idea:

    Basic Information

The idea of Team Cook is to prepare a recipe as written. It is meant to get us out of our comfort zone, challenge us to a new cuisine or flavor profile, learn new ingredients, try a new technique....

...stick to the original recipe as much as we can. Don't have a half onion, use a shallot. Don't have fresh ginger, use the frozen pods. These kind of subs are ok. But I would ask that if a recipe calls for ground beef, use ground beef. Because if you sub ground turkey, you are going to have to adjust a lot of seasoning because turkey is such a blank canvas.

It depends. Any interest in my hot dogs? How about the boiled and seared ribs?

J-Melt you must not have seen the original. Only cheap dogs, like Echrich or maybe Bar S, and boiled. With ketchup. Don't mess with my challenge young man!

Best part, you can boil the hotdogs and ribs together then coat the ribs with the hotdog ketchup before searing.

How about the best homemade pastrami sandwich? You have to make the pastrami AND the bread as well.

            What's a team cook?

          #11
We still have some months open, I tentatively took September in addition to April but I can give it up if someone else wants to lead a Team Cook after the other months fill up.

I would have taken a third month but that cook would have involved y'all coming to Louisiana or the southern Mississippi River and catching a sturgeon...

Alan Brice me and Bonesy saw eye to eye on beans for sure. One of my most favorite pot o' beans is pinquitos with some onion, garlic, and cumin. Keep it simple

Okay Bubba, put me down for July

My fave bean recipes are those that I have taken from an established recipe and riffed on. The morphed end result seldom resembles where the original recipe started. My all time faves doing this is an Indian Rajma Masala recipe and a Black-eye Pea with Ham Hocks recipe. One of these days I'll get around to posting them.

And P.S., we have already done, IIRC, a Bonesy Beans Community Cook, or perhaps we blended it in with the Bonesy Rib community cook. I have taken his three Bourbon Bean recipes described here in his posts and morphed them in to one cohesive recipe that I often use.

                K.
