Smackdown Winners Post Now Fixed 🙏

Wow, has this been fun! Thanks again to all the participants. I thought that instead of a "2nd
place" designation awarded to sides, I think they deserve a "1st Place In Sides" moniker,
along with the "1st Place In Meats" designation. Nothing changes except what we are calling
it. Many of these side dishes were so outstanding I didn't want to call the winner "second
place". I hope y'all agree with me. We also had enough voting points awarded that l'd like to
include an "Honorable Mention" to both the Meats and Sides categories.

Just for fun I'm adding a "Best Post Of The Smackdown Award" to the mix. This goes to the
post with the best mix of humor and/or content. There was no voting on this, just my personal
    opinion.

And just for added drama...there was a tie on this award! Oooh, the tension is building 🙄

    HERE WE GO FOLKS!

1ST PLACE IN MEATS IS AWARDED TO .....treesmacker. Yahoo! Congratulations sir!

Those side dishes are extraordinary! That is something I'm NOT so good at. It takes a lot of effort to plan and execute beautiful side dishes! Congrats to WayneT not only for those dishes, but also for the extensive spreads that you served all weekend!

Thanks. My wife and I love to entertain and throw parties so we have some menu planning experience. This competition gave us some challenges we haven’t had before though so we grew from it. Congratulations on your winning meat entry. May the forks be with us!

David, that took a lot of guts to put on a coat and tie AND be photographed in them with this group. But your point was well made and taken. After retiring, I’m not even sure I still have a coat and tie. Well done sir, well done!

Thanks. I just had a lot of fun with this event. After all this time, it is odd feeling comfortable with hundreds of people that you have never met, but that is a testimony to each person here. At the end of the day we can’t loose site of the fact that food brings people together. Not about the cooker or who is better, etc. It is about food and the fellowship. I can have a bad day and The Pit can change all of that with one short visit.

That’s an excellent point you make about feeling comfortable with this group. Maybe we should explore a Carolina-Virginia Meat up sometime.

It was 115 degrees here and I was sweating bullets. I know the folks in the Southwest are probably saying "so what". HA. Never-the-less, I dedicated myself to trying to show off my cooker. I had a lot of fun doing so. Thanks Panhead John and CaptainMike ! To the judges - I had a lot of money to throw your way for a win but Pinhead uh - I mean Panhead John wouldn't let on who you were so I couldn't drop it into you accounts. Maybe next time.

Congrats again to treesmacker , the de-facto leader of the AR pellet poopers! Thanks for letting me ride your coattails into victory.

So, I thought the front and center on the mantle would be great for my trophy, but the DW thought otherwise; so it is in the outdoor cooking area. Thanks everyone and Panhead!!

Ya know, I think I'm siding with the DW on this one. Anybody can have a TV on a mantle, but NOBODY ELSE can have that absolutely distinctive, signature cooking space graced by a well-earned trophy. Takes an already wonderfully inviting setting to a whole nother level.

PS, I sure love your part of the world. Did my undergrad at Humboldt State in Arcata and GP was staging base for a lot of bushwhacking geology field trips. My sister lives in Ashland, where she was superintendent of schools for many years before she retired in the mid-teens. (The decade I mean, not her mid-teens)
