I'm wondering if the Poop smell for the white pepper isn't a genetic thing? Like how some people think cilantro tastes like soap (my BF) and others don't (I kind'a like it). We use white pepper in cooking because it doesn't get bitter in the heat like black pepper does.
This might be crazy, but I think some large companies found a way to ge rid of that smell. I bought mine from a Asian market as whole berries. When you cook it or use it sparingly, the smell goes away entirely.
