    British Marmalade

I did a search and I realized that we have yet to discuss the wonderful spread that is British marmalade. It is vastly different and superior (IMO) than US marmalade. It leans heavily toward the tart and bitter end of the spectrum versus sweet. We typically use it on toast, biscuits, and English muffins among anything else you’d use a jam on. The key ingredient is really Seville oranges. You can also get different cuts which is essentially the size of the rinds left in the jam. In my view, nothing else exists except thick cut.

For decades, my preferred brand was Duerr’s. But, it is now up to $14 a jar for convenience. I am here to recommend another brand that I think will do the trick at $7 a jar. We must have the Tawny Orange Tiptree version though as that is the thick cut version.

I will have to post some pics on the breakfast thread. Let’s get our British marmalade consumption up folks.

The little chicken said, "Did you see the orange one Marmalade?"

Seville oranges are great for making marinades, too. Completely different than a typical, sweet California or Florida orange. I can't find them at any of the Latin or Asian grocery stores around here, though. I had a hookup for them in Northern VA and made my own marmalade a couple of times.

        Pairs well with Lichtenstein peanutbutter.

Our local coffee shop was selling marmalade muffins and they were very good, I had them several times and enjoyed them so much I bought a jar of marmalade, I have not eaten it in years.

When my strawberry jam preserves something another runs out I'll replace with Marmaduke's Marmalade.

You got dewberries, muscadines, or persimmons near you?

Is Bonne Maman bitter enough for ya? That's the one we get.

Yummy. Delightful and just as good as my usual brand.
