I recently got a Green Mountain Daniel Boone pellet smoker. So far I am very well please with my new smoker. I love dry rub chicken wings, especially if they are smoked. I do not care for wings smothered in glop. Smoked wings was one of my first trys on my new smoker. They were excellent. Here is the recipe I used:
I cooked mine using first 2 hours at 180° F and finishing them at 280° F. They were very good, but next time I will try to get them a little bit crispier on the outside by going with the shorter time at low heat and the higher heat to finish them off. I hope some here will try this and enjoy smoked wings as much as I did.
One reason I posted this is that in researching for recipes, I found that recipes for smoked chicken wings are few and far between.
- About 3 pounds of chicken wings
- Enough olive or canola oil to coat all of the wings
- 2 1/2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Lawry’s seasoning salt
- 2 tablespoons mild New Mexico style chili powder
- 1 to 2 tablespoons chipotle or cayenne powder depending on how much heat you prefer
