    Turkey prep question

    Last Wednesday, day before Thanksgiving I wet brined 2 turkey breast to cook on Thanksgiving. In the mean time we had to take my 101 year old MIL to the hospital. I took the breast out of the brine and rinsed and put back in the fridge. We just got her home this past Sunday and she is doing better.

    I still have the breast in the fridge as of today. So they have been in there for 7 days now. They don't look bad and no bad smell, what are anyones thoughts on cooking them today?

    MN Dept Health said 1 to 2 days. Google to confirm. Personally I would unfortunately toss it.

      Seven days is even longer in thawed turkey years.

              Well here's the good news. I've always wanted to try one of those Diesel turkeys, but I thought the price was way to high. One of our local markets had them for $3.69/lb, but I bought a Safeway sale bird for $.39/lb. 14 lb. bird was a little over $5. I thought no way could there be that much taste difference between a $44.00 turkey and a $5 turkey.

              So the breasts that I'm throwing out are no big loss. I went in the store the day after Thanksgiving and the Diesels were 75% off. I got a 14lb. one for​ $11 and it's in the freezer. I'll be trying it soon a will let everyone know what I think of the taste difference. Thanks again for your comments.
