Turkey brine / rub kit recommendations.

For the past few years I have done the Christmas turkey in a Traeger using the Traeger Turkey pellets, brine and rub kit and every year it has received rave reviews. It is easy peasy lemon squeezy especially given the fact I generally have cold smoked salmon, beef rib, gammon and maybe some game on the go over the same period.

This was only ever a Traeger Limited Edition release and in their wisdom they have discontinued it with no availability anywhere.

Obviously I can make something from scratch but if there is a good quality commercial product that passes muster then why reinvent the wheel or to put another way I am inherently lazy!

So does anyone have any recommendations regarding good quality turkey brine and rub kits? Hopefully if a few suggestions are forthcoming I can then see what is available on this side of the pond.

    Many thanks.

I am no help on this one. I have used the same homemade brine for years now.

Unfortunately Meat Church products aren't generally available in the UK but after a bit of digging I have managed to identify a possible source. šŸ‘

Sorry, didn’t notice your location. I’ll tell Meat Church they need a UK distributor!

Meat Church and a load of others including Meathead have either limited or zero availability, we really do miss out at times! 😢

Look at Meathead's Roast Turkey recipe.
Our grilled and smoked turkey recipe and tutorial make your ordinary holiday meal extraordinary! Here's everything you need to know.

Clint Cantwell has a tasty option:
This spatchcock (butterflied) turkey gets a boost of flavor from sage butter and citrus-herb salt before hitting the smoker or grill.

I've used the BBQ Pit Boy's apple cider turkey brine several times and it is good. I smoke the turkey in my KBQ.

Tell Mama; no more dried out Turkey for your holiday dinner anymore..! This apple cider smoked turkey recipe is a 100% HIT at your Thanksgiving table!

All-in-one turkey brine kit with butcher-approved dry brine, herbs, and spices. Brines a 12–20 lb turkey. Roasted, smoked, or deep-fried.

I used this from PS Seasoning last year and liked it a lot. If you Google it I believe you can buy it in several places.

Looks like that is one I can get shipped to the UK from the US for around 7$ p+p, thanks.

I just did a turkey tailgate bootcamp, a day-long turkey smoking lesson with about 20 sides. I have a lot of thoughts about it, but nothing really succinct yet.

From what I could tell the initial brine has salt, whole peppercorns, thyme, bay leaf, garlic and onion powder, and I think they said allspice. I’m expecting an email in the next few days detailing the ingredients. I know you are asking about a commercially available product, but either way you’re pretty much just dumping something into water and adding a turkey; the difference in work is pretty minimal, and this way you get to say, ā€œYeah, I made that.ā€

I have never used a brine but always used an oven roasting bag with no complaints. Recently, I have injected a turkey several times for an oven roasted in a bag
and a smoked turkey on the Bronco. Both methods I had a Butterball that I stuffed prior to cooking. Very moist.

My son always brines his turkey using Lane's brining kit and then it is cooked on his BGE. Very moist each time I had it. He is a big fan of Lane's BBQ rubs.

Lane's info: Lane's Ultimate Turkey Brine Kit w/ Bag | Best-Selling Turkey Brine

          As always, YMMV.

Follow the Simon n Garfunkel dry brine. No muss very little fuss. Crowd pleaser. Pull in low 150's n depending on the size of yer bird, shoot for breast temp of 157-158. Great results, very moist.

What Alan Brice said. I've used this recipe multiple times and gotten good reviews every time.

I'm going to try this kit from KosmosQ this year. Doing a practice run this weekend on the PBC.

A couple years ago I started using the turkey brine from Hey Grill Hey. Also part of a kit if desired but I just buy the brine. It's quite good, IMO.

As fzxdoc shared…Meatheads turkey method is outstanding. I’ve been using it for the last 8 years that we’ve been hosting the family Thanksgiving, and even the pickiest of turkey eaters love it!

Dry brine - under and on top of the skin - followed by a healthy amount of Simon and Garfunkel rub. Spatchcock for the fastest, juiciest bird ever.

This recipe works in your kitchen oven just as well as an outdoor cooker. Follow the complete guide for turkey success!
