I'm told that most stores sell rotisserie chickens cheaper than fresh because they were a loss leader and/or cooked just before the fresh sell by date and same with their chicken salad. Cheaper than throwing them out. Now Costco, I believe is vertical in the chicken business due to their volume sold and play the value chain game. Like the hot dog/drink special, it does bring in customers and enhances their reputation.

Go in for a rotisserie chicken….come out with $500 of stuff you didn’t know you needed

Ah. This makes a LOT of sense. I.e. spinning and selling chickens that would go bad and get thrown out anyway... better to make something rather than lose money on them.

We love their chicken. I go to Costco weekly in Mettawa (near my office) for my gas and if we need a quick dinner it’s great. I get 2 and any leftovers will be used for enchilada, tacos, and/or soup.

We live near a Mariano’s (Kroger) and I think their rotisserie chickens are a far step below . Small and tend to be dried out. In fact my wife stopped telling me to get them from there because I end up buying fresh chickens to cook myself on my cookers 😜.

This is my experience. Costco or more often for me, Sam's Club - have much better chickens than the rotisserie cooked ones at any of the local grocery stores. Larger, better, juicier, and cheaper.

Turn the convection on with your oven and set it to 425 F. Throw that dirty bird in there and let it rip. Keep an eye on it. The skin will crisp right up.
