My Pre Thanksgiving Day Turkey Ha Ha

We're cooking the turkey this year at my house. Based upon attendees, my brother wants a 20 lb. turkey. Turkeys are on sale and I want to defrost it in the frig. Went to Ralphs (Krogers) last Thursday to buy my turkey. Turkey's are advertised anywhere from 49 cents/lb to 79 cents/lb. Going through the turkey bin, I find a 20 lb turkey...Bingo.

Take it up to register to pay, but it does not have a bar code on it. The grocery checker gets a box boy to run back to the meat department to get the bar code. He comes back with the turkey, but the turkey he brings back is 13.5 lbs. I tell him that this is not my turkey. He says, "yes it is". Everyone is looking at me. I tell him politely that no, I had a 20 lb turkey and this is a 13.5 lb turkey. Again, he says, "this is your turkey".

I take the turkey back to the meat department and get the manager. Who I know by name. It is very busy in the meat department, but he is polite. He finds my 20 lb turkey and while we're talking about the upcoming holiday, puts a bar code on the tag.

I take the turkey back to the register and they ring me up. They ring me up for $61. $61 DOLLARS! I look at the turkey and it is a natural bird going for $2.99/lb. It was in the bin with all the discount turkeys. I was too tired to fuss. Paid for the turkey and laughed all the way to the car.
Most expensive turkey I have ever purchased

        Totally feel this!

On a much smaller scale, I accidentally grabbed an 'organic' rotisserie chicken last week. $10. The normal ones are $5.

I’m sure it will be extra delicious given the wholesome life it lived before winding up in your supermarket’s freezer case.

Oh my. Yeah, no... no thanks to that one. Sorry you had to deal with that.

It is a frequent experience of mine that things are often not in the appropriate bin or in a spot on a shelf that doesn’t the price. Between double checking and checking for expired dates shopping can be hard work.

At HEB they have store discounts on the yellow papers throughout the store. Most of the time I ignore them because I end up getting stuff I don’t want. Even if it’s free. The last couple of time it was buy two and get $1 off. How hard can that be. Well they have the coupons directly over the product. Sort of. It the same product but different size! Why? Weird! I think they do it just to embarrass people who don’t read the fine print.
I usually just buy them anyway but come on…can you give brother a break!

Yeah, I don't think I have ever taken advantage of those....meal deals, I think they call them? And the free item is something related, but not something I would really eat.
