I’ve made turkey gravy from the package inside of the turkey or an envelope bought at the store or a jar of turkey gravy. On a whim last week I made the turkey gravy as in Meathead’s cookbook. This is from a guy that usually doesn’t even bother trying to make gravy because my smoked turkey comes out so moist. My guests and I thought it was the best turkey gravy any of us had ever had. In fact when they took home traditional leftovers, which I gladly give my guests, they all poured gravy on top of the turkey. It wasn’t just a little bit better, it was far superior to any turkey gravy that I have had in my 70+ years. Do yourself a favor and try it.

I made this last year at Thanksgiving. It was outstanding, though my people prefer a thicker gravy, so it was not as well received. I'm toying around with this original recipe and if I come up with something, I'll post here on AR.

I make Turkey noodle soup after every Thanksgiving. It is expected by my grown kids. The turkey soup comes out velvety and rich. The secret - turkey gravy. I make 4 times more than needed for the turkey day dinner and use the excess for the soup. Shhhhh.....don't tell anyone.
