Chicken Wings in my Ooni Koda Pizza Oven

Last night I really wanted some chicken wings. I have been sick for about a month now and the only food that has consistently sounded appetizing has been chicken wings. I had never cooked them in my pizza ovens but decided to give them a try.

Overall I loved it. I dry brined the wings and then seasoned them with Meat Church Holy Voodoo. Sprayed a bit of beef tallow in the pan and it only took probably 6 or 7 minutes for the wings to cook. In my kettle with the Vortex it usually takes 30-45 minutes.

Flip the wings often and keep them moving or you will end up with some that are just a bit too charred.

The texture of the finished wings was great. The skin wasn't rubbery at all and had a great bite to it and the meat was still nice and juicy.

I don't know if the pizza oven will always win out over my kettle and a vortex but if I am already cooking pizzas and want some wings to go with it I will definitely cook them this way again.

Have any of you ever used your pizza oven for wings?

Those crispy bits in the bottom of the pan were definitely tempting!

I am oddly jealous of this.

That was a fun video. I've been interested in getting a pizza oven, but I don't do pizzas all that often, so another use case is a plus. (Also, love Holy Voodoo on wings.)

I've only used my Ooni for pizza but definitely going to have to try that!

Sorry to hear about your sickness. If it's any consolation I too have been sick for just over a month. Started with ear infections bouncing between both sides, then last week it got worse and the whole R side of my face hurt, couldn't chew, could hardly sleep, the pillow hurt. Now the pain's gone but the plugged ear remains, and I have a cold on top of that, with stuffed nose and sore throat. Yuck!

Anyway, enough of that. I have been craving fried chicken for weeks! There's something about chicken when we're sick.
