Smoking 4 turkeys (2 @ 14lb & 2 @ 20lb) and going to smoke at 275d (the sweet spot on the Jambo). I know that spatchcock turkeys cook faster than the traditional bird. Trying to get an educated ballpark cooking time number.
For example, the general cooking time for a 20 lb turkey, in the oven at 350d, is roughly 4 hours (unstuffed). For a spatchcock bird is the cooking time 1/2 of 4 hours or something else? I know that cooking at 275d will take longer than 350d. Wanting data/info to work with.
Appreciate your comments, insight, advice in advance. Thanks
I did a 15lb spatchcocked turkey on Sunday on the Yoder pellet smoker. I think I did 275 for an hour, then about half an hour at 325, I think I bumped to 345 for another half hour or so. Got to 155 breast, about 190 thighs - those were creeping up so I put some foil underneath them at one point.
Thank you again for your assistance. Based off your info, I planned on the turkeys being done at 9:30am and all were, except for one that took just 20 minutes longer. But had all the meat sliced and delivered to the charitable organization on time. Again, I salute you.
Surprised more people didn't respond to this post since people love to comment on what and how to do things. They must have me on the ignore button.
Hope you and your family had a wonderful thanksgiving. Cheers.
