Turkey’s thawing at the store freezer case

I noticed while at Walmart last night the open top freezer cases are over stocked with turkey
and there above the freezing temperature.
I noticed one turkey was thawing and the meat was soft pushing on the meat. That could get someone sick, when your at the grocery store
watch for them over stocking the open top freezer cases and if they are, get your turkey somewhere else. Hopefully getting the turkey that’s in the bottom of the freezer is safe.
That really concerned me. I’ll make sure our turkey smells fresh. Can you imagine the nightmare spending hours cooking a turkey and find out after cooking it taste funky.

So what was the actual temperature? If turkey got bad just cause it came out of frozen, no one could ever cook turkey.

I have no idea the temperature but could push bents into the meat. It’s possible the turkey might stay mushy for several days.

Relatedly, I am always reaching back in the back of those freezer or cooler cabinets to get the coldest raw meat.

If you can find a turkey, I would sure recommend buying it. They are going to be in short supply.

So far it’s just myself and my bride for Thanksgiving, kids are out of state and have to work that Friday. We’re not buying nothing but couple pies and probably going to the Big Texan in Amarillo. My wife can’t stand turkey and we only cook turkey when the kids are able to be with us. Her family would go 12 years between cooking turkey. I somehow fell into their taste and turkey isn’t as good as it used to be. Try going 10 years without turkey and it taste weird
once you’ve been away from it awhile. I’m not that crazy about it anymore. A few times we cooked seafood and steaks for Thanksgiving.
We think an oven cooked turkey has to much of a gamy taste.

We eat turkey often. Typically purchase breasts during the year.

I’ve heard Walmart gets they’re turkeys from the Chernobyl Chicken Farms
        They’ll never go bad.
Coincidently if you notice, cut a piece off and it immediately grows back.
