    KFC's recipe leaked?

Boss Hunting claims it has been leaked:

The Colonel's 11 herbs & spices are a secret guarded more closely than CIA briefings. But this element of the KFC recipe was once revealed.

Most KFC's seems like more than the recipe has been leaked....on.

The one we had, had, in town was pretty good.

I've always blamed to oil its deep fried in but you could be right.

I saw that same note several years ago and copied it then. No idea if it is real or not since the internet is not known for its vetting processes. However, whether real or a hoax, I think it might be a good coating to try.

The internet has batted 1.000 since someone invented it (who I think I can't name because it could be construed as political even though that's not my intent). But he also warned us about ManBearPig. 🤣

I've read/heard this for years as well. Each time I try the "leaked" recipe it's good but it ain't KFC. I will be on the pessimists' side of the room in this conversation.

That is the same recipe the Chicago Tribune printed in 2016

    https://www.chicagotribune.com/trave...818-story.html

I've made it several times, close but not quite the same as KFC. Many people think there is coriander in KFC's recipe. One guy on youtube researched and interviewed some franchise owners that Col. Sanders shared the recipe with; he posted a video of his findings and lists the ingredients but doesn't give the proportions since one former franchisee in the UK produces the recipe commercially and asked him not to.

Donw The seasoning arrived today. Shipping was via UPS. I thought it was pretty quick: ordered 9/13 and it arrived 9/19. The main difference and what makes the Grace's Blend expensive is that it is ready to use: 1/2 kg to make 9 pieces of chicken. So that is about 18 pieces per bag of mix (I'll sift and reuse, probably will get a higher yield). The Marion Kay is concentrated spices that you add to flour, it can make up to 100 lbs of chicken.

I originally thought "Strong Blend" meant that it was just the spices and needed to be added to flour but that is not the case thus it is pretty expensive when shipping is factored in. It will have to be really good, like old school Original Recipe, for me to order again. I did buy some cottonseed oil to cook it in but I usually use peanut oil in the pressure fryer.

When I first read this I thought, "who the hell is Boss Hunting and why did he even bother looking for it? Is he some kind of culinary Sherlock Holmes?" Didn’t realize it was a lifestyle mag.

There is cooking guy from Toronto on You Tube by the name Glen and friends and he did a whole series on KFC trying to recreate their secret recipe. He also knew the company history, Col Sanders sold the US business first and he owned the Canadian stores until his death so the recipe in Canada did not change like it did after new owners took over in the US. There were also stores in the UK as well. Glen tried the recipe published in Chicago tribune too, I think he said it is very close. I like watching Glen as no recipe is too hard or too complicated for him to try.

45 or so years ago KFC was everywhere. As a merchant sailor back then I remember eating at KFCs in Tanzania and Kenya of all places, as well as port towns in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. I think there was one in either Ghana or Nigeria too but where exactly escapes me right now. No matter where it was, it tasted like home. (And being fried in a pressure cooker the odds were it wouldn’t make you sick.)

This one's been around almost as long as the "Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie" recipe. Just another way to spread spam...

This thread reminded me of a chicken recipe I would pay dearly for. English’s restaurant fried chicken. English’s was a small chain of restaurants on the Eastern Shore of Maryland but unfortunately they closed the last one down in 2015 after decades of being in business. Best fried chicken I have ever tasted and actually better than my Mom’s who also cooked some great chicken too. The large contractors building our town’s high rises and large hotels would keep workers working overtime by buying several 100 piece boxes at a time to feed them on site. Most workers stayed working overtime just to get the free all you can eat chicken dinner. Awe, the memories.
