I am having a bit of interest in doing a themed watch party for some NFL games this year., starting with Thursday night football, Buffalo vs LA where I make a food from each city/team. Buffalo says chicken wings with Buffalo sauce… what does LA say? I’d like to have a LA style chicken wing to make my life easy… but I’ve never been to LA so I don’t know what food (or preferably wing style) I could pass off as there’s.
Umm ... does Los Angeles/California have a chicken wing style? We're a state of immigrants/migrants: we borrow the best food ideas from everywhere else! 😋
You could go simple and just do tritip. There's also a burger sub that is nefarious at SoFi. Honestly LA really doesn't have much unique cuisine, what it does have is a Californiafied version of almost any food you can think of, lots of Asian and Hispanic fusion.
If you're focused on wings, you're gonna wanna do some Korean style or at least an Asian based recipe. OR if you really wanna get crazy, look up a recipe for El Pollo Loco style chicken and make your wings with that method.
Obvious for the Buffalo would be the sauce. If you want to "invent" an L.A. style since there probably isn't any semi-official one, you might want to do the wings with, say, a lemon pepper seasoning and an avocado based dipping sauce, and maybe a tofu based sauce as well...................with nuts.................lots of nuts.
Love the idea and I do it often for the Super Bowl.
Can't think of any particular LA style wings but I'd lean towards either Mexican or Korean flavors if I was going go make something to evoke LA. I've done korean style wings before with a sauce made of gochujang, soy sauce, garlic, etc.
Another option would be to do chicken and waffles that would fit with the LA vibe

Not sure what flavors would be LA. But I would think a dry rub of some kind would be the ticket. As others have said, a Mexican, Korean or Chinese spice blend might be it.
Or you could make a California Roll, instead of crab meat......throw in some buffalo chicken.
For the Buffalo wings you will need to use Franks hot sauce. Then a little butter. At least that was the way I was taught when I worked in a restaurant.

I'm looking for a combo I could do without a heruclean amount of work due to it being a Thursday night and all, plus, SWMBO is going to a little girls night so I will have the speedy 1 year old who is wonderful at limiting my cooking bandwidth
Starting to think Buffalo wings and LA Street Dogs (https://recipechampions.com/recipe/l...pped-hot-dogs/) are the play... fairly easy, can do some of the prep before hand at the speed my daughter allows, and the LA street dog is a bit more distinctively LA than general Asian/Hispanic fusion (which does sound delightful).
any final suggestions before I go to the store tonight?

I love this! I used to do themed SB parties all the time, researching recipes, etc. and since I live here now, I would do the recently mentioned fire cracker chicken, just apply it to wings. I’m doing the thighs myself as soon as they thaw.
