I like Popeyes too. Used to be a place here called Southern Kitchen. Hands down the best fried chicken in this area. Used to like KFC Original but they keep changing things to decrease costs and it ain't the same that I grew up with.

Well, the original recipe (allegedly) was leaked a few years back. I've made it and its very close to what I remember.

My go-to place for fried chicken in Winston-Salem, near where I live, is Mozelle's Fresh Southern Bistro.

Does every day of the year have a special food? I'm not sure I could name 365 different foods.

I haven't found anything better than my grandma's recipe.

I love fried chicken but have yet to find any that’s above average here in the Milwaukee, WI area. Maybe my local Pit brothers can guide me.

I am partial to my mom's recipe that I learned, but for fast food I liked Chicken Express when we lived in TX. Although, it might have been CE sweet tea and that I could order fried okra...

If you can find it, Broasted Chicken is the best. Avoid the gas station versions or if they only sell thighs and legs that's a red flag that they are not using a pressure fryer. That version, although produced by the Broaster company, is not anything like the real restaurant version. It's hard to find out west here, but they are based in WI so it should be easy to find in that area. Chet and Emils is the place I remember going. Big plaster chicken outside on the highway and extremely affordable.

I have a knockoff Popeye's recipe I've yet to try.

Mom's fried chicken was the best ever. And my lovely bride has come so close as to be indistinguishable with my memory. We just don't buy fried chicken from anywhere, if we're having it, we're having hers.

Love Popeye’s fried chicken. I grew up on Kentucky fried chicken, but Popeye’s is way better.

With a salute to National Fried Chicken Day, I’ll be making fried chicken and waffles for dinner tonight

Their chicken sandwich is pretty damn good too!

I prefer homemade, but it's such a pain that I usually buy either Popeyes or Bojangles.

I’ve tried making my own fried chicken, never did turn out anything beyond mediocre. And you’re right, it is kind of a messy pain to do at home.

Bojangles! Been a coon's age since I've seen a Bojangles.
