Help me build my Cinco de Mayo breakfast burrito (poll, time out at 7:00AM 5/5/24)

Well that’s the most options I could put down, so I had to stop listing things. But I also have corn I could put in it, not that I really want to.

Thing is, if I throw everything in there, it isn’t going to be any good. There will be too many things. On the other hand: lots of things. Things are stupid, and stupid is often fun!

If I were to just flat out do it without asking, it would be eggs, bacon, either brisket OR chorizo, hash browns, serranos, onion, cheese, and green salsa. Maybe some pinto beans. I do have the HUGE tortillas for this. I would consider grilling it when done.

Rice. I always have leftover rice and it bulks up a burrito nicely.

I’m with captainlee I find that rice as a filler reduces the flavor of everything else in the burrito.

Draznnl no, you don’t use rice as a filler. I know the restaurants do but I disagree and I am sure they do it because it is cheaper. I think we use rice as a topping like onion or cheese where a little goes a long way.

People who put rice in any burrito that's not mariscos are monsters.

Are we griddling this monster in the burrito wrap for crispiness?

Yeah, thinkin’ bout it. Depends on the rain, it will be either griddled outside or cast iron inside.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a good burrito. I think I’ll use everything that is over 50%, but if something is really close and I really want it, I’ll add it.

Also, if anyone hints of something I didn’t, feel free to blurt it out.

I would use most of those ingredients but make several small and different tacos.

Now that’s a thought. There is absolutely nothing keeping that from happening other than I want to use up one of my 12” flour tortillas. But I have 6” corn tortillas, and 6” flour tortillas as well. I’m going to have enough stuff to make burritos & tacos for a week, so that is what will probably happen.

Got it, and limes, too. The polls top out at 15 choices.

I went with chorizo, hash browns (because that's the only potato option), egg, cheese, and sour cream.

I could also do home fries.

Ha. It is basically your proposed burrito minus the peppers (the Pit ain’t spicy!). I’ll plead for sour cream because it adds so much. Hope it wins!

I didn’t go with Serrano because I chose chorizo andI’m sure it would work, but the flavor profile I went with in my mind doesn’t pair. Normally I go with green chile but the chorizo option really sounded good to me! Makes me want to go buy some chorizo for breakfast tomorrow!

I like the chorizo and bacon combo for your meat protein. Hash browns and onions, cheese, pintos and red chile, as I thought that would pair nicely with the chorizo flavor.

It may surprise some of you to know that yr. hmbl. svt. Mosca isn’t as “together” as he seems. However, what I thought was tomatillo/green hatch salsa that I took from the freezer last night was actually green hatch chiles. And since I don’t have any tomatillos laying around, it’s tomato/red hatch salsa.

I would have voted green chiles then!

I thought about that. I already had the serrano out and chopped.
