I was quite thrilled to discover our new exchange student’s favorite way to eat eggs is with an egg cup, a soft boiled egg, and soldiers (buttered toast sliced into thin strips). We cut the top of the egg off and dip the toast in to eat the yolk, then scoop out the rest with a spoon. I probably haven’t eaten eggs like this since I was a kid as it is a very British tradition. Apparently , it is a French thing too. Amanda isn’t a fan of soft boiled eggs so we never did it.
So, I had to immediately acquire a suitable container for our new breakfast eggs. These cups are made of marble and quite heavy. This should be fun!
Growing up my mother and grandparents always ate eggs that way in Maine. I can remember eating eggs in egg cups whenever we visited my grandparents. I still have several egg cups that were my grandparents.
