    Another stupid omelet idea….

Except I think it’s going to be brilliant. And I searched the Googles, and there were no first page hits for this one.

Why not cook your omelet in dipping oil?

I mean, why not, right? Mrs Mosca bought this stuff before I planted the herb garden this spring, and it’s really good. There’s nothing keeping me from using those flavors on my eggs tomorrow morning, maybe an omelet with grilled tomatoes and Asiago cheese. I’m starting to get cherry tomatoes from the deck planter, you know.

I also have some Boar’s Head Deli Sandwich Oil; that’s the strong oregano one. But that one would really overpower the eggs. I think this one would work really well, don’t you?

Tom, if I leave now, I can be there for breakfast. :-)

I love that you keep these going. I never would have thought about doing that but it makes complete sense! I can’t wait to read about it tomorrow.

The best recipes come from people saying "This might sound crazy, but what if I..."

I don't want to hijack your topic here but I did just that a year or so ago with an omelet. It was a huge hit. It's nothing novel or gourmet, but certainly nothing I'd ever heard of and that most people would be like "why on earth?!" But it was excellent. Might share in another topic.

That is good to know! I don’t think I could think of something completely new that would actually taste good, I was just happy I couldn’t find it by googling it!

In all the time spent with you in person and online, I’ve never seen anything come from you that is stupid.

Maybe add a little deli oil to the dipping oil at some point?

What's the worst that could happen ... Diptheria?

When i was drinking (way too much) i used to make a bunch of different infused vodkas. Avocado oil is a pretty neutral flavor and it takes flavors well so now i make infused oils. Its so so good for cooking as long as you dont over do it.

Makes sense to me. I've done Italian-inspired omelets before, though not in the oil. I've added basil and oregano directly to the eggs, I've mixed a spoonful of pesto into them before cooking. Chopped up salami, onion, and mozzarella with a sprinkle of Parmesian or Romano are good fillers.

I make a pizza omelet: pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers, mozzarella, and topped with pizza sauce.

This absolutely makes sense to me. I transitioned from cooking my eggs in butter to EVOO for the (arguably, perceived) health benefits, but came to enjoy the ever-so-slightly-herbal note it gave along with the richness of the fat.

I think a dipping or infused oil would taste great.....oh....especially one infused with red chile flakes!

I love to pan fry garden burgers in chili oil. Be careful about breathing, though.

                Why not?

They liked the pesto eggs, which would just be a different oil to herb ratio, right?

Thinking of everything that has gone into omelets, it makes total sense.

We make herbed evoo at our house and I’m going to steal your idea of putting it on eggs. 😋
